So I purchased the WeGoShop advance order gift certificate (paid $125 for $200 gc). Not sure if that will work out since I don't know how much the bill will come to. :confused3 I am not familiar with the area stores, they recommend Publix. Would Publix be your choice or do you recommend another store?

Thanks.

I don't want to go over the gc, but don't want to be way under since they don't refund any unused portion. I don't know the local prices, I guess I will just guesstimate the best I can.

Publix would definitely be my choice. You can go on Publix.com & look at their ads etc to see what might be on sale & it will also be able to tell you the closest Publix to WDW.

You could always look at the Publix website to see their sales flyers. Publix sales run from Thursday to Wednesday.

I do shop at Publix, I don't know what you are planning to buy if it just water and snacks 200 is a lot.

This should link you to a WDW local Publix ad for this week: http://weeklyad.publix.com/Publix/Entry/LandingContent/?storeid=2500624

I guess I will check on the weekly sales to get an idea of their prices before November. WeGoShop told me to order about 4 weeks ahead so I won't know what is on sale the week we are there.

The gift certificate can also be used for the delivery fee and tip (I check on this before ordering it), so it will be more like $150-160 available for food/drinks.

I want to get some breakfast food, snacks, yogurt, yogurt smoothies, deli meat and salads, hoagie rolls, fruit, milk, juice, drinks, a case of water, etc., for 8 days, plus wine and/or maybe margarita stuff.

Does Publix sell styrofoam coolers? That might come in handy.

If there is any prepared food at Publix that you really recommend please let me know!

Yes, Publix sells Styrofoam coolers. They have good prepared deli food: fried chicken, rotisserie chicken, very good bakery items, sub sandwiches. They have Boars Head deli meat and cheese as well as their own brand.

$150 in food is a lot, but I guess if you aren't necessarily shopping the sales, it won't take long to get that much.

can you tell me about the gift cert? sounds like a good deal and will alleviate my having to go to the store myself!!

Great, thanks. I figure it will be about $30-40 on wine and/or tequila and margarita mix. Do they sell alcohol in Publix? Also one person in our group is a vegan so all those separate items add to the bill, and we buy all organic milk, yogurt, etc., which adds up. It's not hard for us to total $150 for a week.

I might just end up asking them to go to Whole Foods, even though I don't usually shop there I can go to one nearby and at least price everything out.

I went on their website and they have a promotion (I don't know if they always have it or if it's temporary). The deal is you pay $125 for the $200 gift certificate, but you have to be at least 6 months before your trip. We're 7 months out, and we always get a grocery delivery (but usually Garden Grocer). I figured it was worth a try. The big issue I am coming up with is figuring out to get come up with a pretty accurate estimate to come close to the gift certificate total without going over (including the delivery fee and tip).

Most publix stores do have a "separate" liquor store as they can't sell anything more than beer & wine in the actual store. No hard liquor. Most stores have a large bakery selection & the deli has hot & cold food plus subs. Some have salad & soup bars. Produce is fresh & most also have a great seafood selection including sushi. Have a great trip!!

Publix is my store of choice when we are in Florida. I love shopping there. I have told DH more than once, if we lived here, this would be my store to shop in!

Most Publix have good organic, vegetarian and even gluten free cheaper than whole foods except possibly 365 WF brand
Try compare but love Publix subs

In regards to this, we get 1 stop with our town car from the airport at a grocery store. I was thinking of going to publix but also want liquor. Does anyone know if the publix nearby Disney have this option?

The Publix I usually go to only carries beer and wine in the store, but there is a liquor store in the same strip mall. We usually "divide and conquer". It is the Publix at Williamsburg Downs. 5350 Central Florida Parkway. Orlando 32831

Thanks! This will be my plan.
