I just read and copied this:

Walt Disney Co. agreed to buy Marvel Entertainment Inc. for $4 billion in cash and stock, bringing characters like Iron Man, X-Men and Spider-Man into the Disney fold.

Under the deal, Disney will acquire ownership of 5,000 Marvel characters.

Marvel shareholders will receive $30 a share in cash plus about 0.745 Disney share for each Marvel share. Based on Friday's closing prices, the ...

I couldn't get the rest.

Yeah, I'm not happy about it.

This doesn't make much sense to me.

Where does this leave Universal? IOA has rides like Spiderman, which Marvel owns (owned) the rights too.

And also, I just can't see Cinderella's castle (or any Disney attraction) and a Marvel attraction going together so well...

Exactly.
When I think of Marvel, I think of Universal.
Marvel and Disney just don't go together, it's not really their "thing".

From what I've read this can't impact parks east of the Mississippi, for Spiderman, X-Men, Fantastic 4, and one other thing Universal has contractual rights to.

I don't really want to see these characters in a Disney park, anyways, but the merge should be very profitable for Disney in the long-run.

Movie profits are going to amazing... In the past decade of movies alone Marvel's made around 2-3 billion.

As a comic fan.... I'm not really sure what I think about this. It could bomb, it could be amazing. But I have to agree with: what will happen to Universal's attractions? I think I'd die if I couldn't ride Spider-Man during a Florida trip.

..Disney had better not go messing with the characters, though. *glare of rage*

Part of the call has the Disney execs promising to use a hands off approach similar to Pixar movies. :rolleyes1

Again, this buy is mostly movies, I would think, but merchandising and appealing to young males is what Disney's after. (They don't have much in that dept, currently, and DisneyXD has failed).

Well, that's interesting. I'm not surprised or anything. I fully think Disney will one day own...everything. That's where they're headed. :) They should buy Walmart!

Uhm, anyway, I don't really care if it affects the parks or not. It's 'Disney' now!

Right now, my opinion (although I don't want them in a Kingdom park) they'd probably be fine shoehorned into the Studios or DCA.

Hell, we've already got Power Rangers in the Studios.

That's what I was thinking. Spiderman can have some little back area in the Streets of America to meet and greet. But I really don't care, it won't ruin my experience if they're out and about.

Perhaps the film deal will be like Disney/Miramax?

Seperate... but not? I'd say like Touchstone but it's origins are with Disney to put some more mature films.

I think it'll be cool to see what they do with it in the future...hmm.
