Nope - it's just information that Disney and most app developers like to gather that is usually completely unnecessary. Location services is a huge battery drain - it makes your phone 'run' constantly.
You should have location services shut off on most of your apps - or at least set to 'only when open'. I install an app, I go into my settings and adjust the location services.
The only reason you might need location services turned on for the Disney app is if you are using the maps and want to know exactly where you are in relation to the ride you're trying to get to.
I've used the Disney app in the parks for the past 2 years and my location services for the app are always turned off.
In your settings make sure it's selected to only use your location when using the app, not all the time (or off if you don't want it on at all). Another thing that might help you is to fully exit out the app when not using it instead of just hitting the home button. You might have it running in your background which might be using the battery (This would mainly be the location services)
