Disney app frozen, and I can't let it go?

Is anyone else having trouble with the app the last 18 hours or so?
I mean, I'm not in the park so it's not a big problem, but while the app will open on my Pixel 7, I can't access any of the features or menus.
I restarted my phone and uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but no dice.
Any suggestions?

Nevermind. It appears it doesn't work on my VPN, which I have been experimenting with.
Does any else have experience using the app on a Norton VPN?

We've had lots of problems with the app freezing/crashing in DCA.

My app is working fine from home. Not on a VPN, though. VPNs cause a lot of apps to not work properly.

Yeah, I've noticed that with several other apps as well.
I was kinda hoping to use one, because I'll have at least one credit card's info stored there for payments, but I'll just have to live with the risk.

Exposing financial and personal information while public Wi-Fi in a crowded park? Isn't that one of the reasons to use a VPN on the first place?
Or am I the one that doesn't understand today's technology (perfectly plausible, since I'm -- brace yourself -- older than Disneyland itself)?

My understanding, and someone more tech savvy will hopefully correct me if I am wrong, is that the danger is transmitting the information, not storing the information. Also, I have never heard of someone using VPN on a smartphone, only on a laptop.

Disney must have figured out someway to safe-guard the transactions with wi-fi, because otherwise there would be issues with mobile order, and I have not heard of any widespread problems involving stolen credit card numbers.

Just use your cell data connection instead of WiFi when you need to submit a payment/access banking info to give yourself an extra layer of protection. VPN is overkill in the parks and doesn't play nice with certain apps as you've learned. Plus WiFi in the parks is still not great compared to a mobile network.

VPN comes with my Norton subscription, so no cost.

Like I said "usually". Not always. Also you have Google VPN with your P7 as well so you actually have two free VPNs.

It's really not necessary. I can just tell you, I've had my Disney Visa linked to my account and have used it for mobile order and mobile purchases at Disneyland over 100 times. I still have my original Disney Visa account number. That card has never been compromised. My Chase Sapphire Reserve, on the other hand, has been used fraudulently at least 5 times since 2016. I'm on my 6th card number. I have never linked that card to my Disneyland app.

In any event, credit cards come with built in fraud protection. You won't be liable for any unauthorized charges and don't have to really do anything. In every case of fraud, Chase has caught it and reached out immediately to ask if the charges were made by me. A simple click on "no" is all it takes for them to lock the account, issue a new number, and wipe the charges off the account.

I wouldn't think twice about storing a card on the DL app amd using it for mobile orders. It's just not something I've ever heard about as being risky. I don't think there are people hanging out at Disneyland ready to spoof your phone.

Couldn't you solve that problem by using your data plan? I never use public Wi-Fi, VPN or not, when putting credit card details.

Does Disneyland really have public Wi-Fi? I always assumed that everyone on this forum talking about mobile ordering, ride reservations, etc. was using their cellular plans to access the Internet.

That's what I use. They do offer free wifi, but it's awful.

If you have mobile data, turn wifi off entirely. That's what I always do.

I used wifi last time, I couldn't get roaming data to work. It is only there at specific places in the park, not parkwide, who knows why. I was able to use it to make Maxpass selections, but now that it seems you have to be constantly using your phone, it could be more difficult!

This must be carrier specific. Who is your carrier? We have AT&T and have never once had an issue using mobile data in the parks. It works everywhere. Sometimes the Disneyland APP acts up and stuff doesn't work. And there is ONE area at DCA back by the Emotional Whirlwind ride, that is kind of a dead zone, but outside of that, I've used my mobile data ALL over. I'm on my phone most of the day because my kids don't talk much and I get bored otherwise.
