Disney Announces New Premier Passport

I just called the hotline to see if I could find out the cost difference in my DL PAP and the new Premiere pass. So, no one answers, and they call you back within 48 hours. Some hotline. Can I just assume that the posted value of my DL PAP is what would be used? I do know that when we purchased the PAP that we had GAD vouchers and a DVC discount, so not sure just what value they would use.

You would get the exact dollar amount that you paid for your DAP applied to your PAP. So PAP is currently $700 and 4 day PH's from UC are $291.95. You'll be credited $309.00 or $408 if you added parking. Add the credit and the 4 day PH's and you're at $601.95. It's cheaper to just buy the 4 day PH's from UC. BUT, if you decide to go again before your AP's expire, then go with the upgrade. :thumbsup2

I must have the names mixed up, we had the top of the line pass, Premium, I thought, with parking included, and I think we paid more than the $309, so our credit would probably be more.

I wasn't sure if they would look us up in the system and see that we used the GAD and DVC discount to reduce the cash we actually paid. So, will they go by the rack rate of the Premium pass or look up exactly what we paid?

You'll get full credit for your GAD vouch and they will look up in the system to see what you paid with your DVC discount.

Ok, so you paid $439 for your Premium pass and a 4 day PH will run you around $291 - it's less expensive to just pay the $161 to upgrade to the Premier AP. :thumbsup2

Be aware though, the Flordia portion of the Premier pass is taxed and the prices they list for the day tickets are tax included. This is the same as our situation (have DL PAP, going to WDW with 4-day park hoppers in Jan), and it still turned out cheaper to upgrade to Premier... but with tax it comes out to about $722 or something, not a straight $700.

Also, it'd be $261, not $161 to upgrade... so it'll end up turning out almost even.

Here's my take on the math: You probably paid $424 for a DVC DL PAP if you bought it before August, including your GAD credit. You will get at least this credit towards the Premier AP which costs $722.75, leaving you a balance of $298.75. If you upgrade to the Premier AP in WDW, you might get credit for the current value of a DVC DL PAP of $439, which would save you another $15 off this price.

The current price at UT for a 4 day PH is $291.95, so the upgrade to the Premier AP will either cost you nothing or about $7. If you plan to visit WDW for more than 4 days or would like to visit the Water Parks or Disney Quest, this seems like a good deal.

As noted in my post above, you cannot make the decision to upgrade after you have used your WYW ticket. As you already have a DL AP, the value is only there if you upgrade before you use a ticket at WDW.

Best of luck -- Suzanne

Yeah, I was never good at math. :teeth:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

And if we do upgrade to the Premier, we would probably take another trip to WDW sometime in the Spring, so that would definitely make it worth it, even if we broke even on the first trip. :goodvibes Thanks for confirming for me what I had thought to be the case, but I just wasn't sure.

We bought our Premier passes at WDW last week. The CM said we would need to get our pictures taken for the passes when we got to DL.

Can someone direct me to where we need to get our pictures taken? I'm assuming this would need to be done before we enter the park.

Thanks!

I like your math much better! If only Disney would get on board... :lmao:
It's called FDM. :teacher: Fuzzy Disney Math! :lmao:

Walk to the end of Main Street and turn left. The AP processing center is in the Plaza Pavillion building. You really can't miss it.

As for DCA, they had the AP processing center in the gift shop just past the entrance on the left. It may have changed. I'm going to DCA/DLR tonight, so I'll try to remember to double check. :thumbsup2

The AP center at DCA is inside the Greetings from California store. It is located right next to the pin section inside the store.

Yup this is were it is in DCA and there is never anyone there. I highly recommend going to this center. Of course I hope they finally have their act together when it comes to stuff with pass. I too am going to DLR today and tonight. Going to get there in a hour or two. I like this mobile version of the boards for my iPhone.

Gotta get those SM Ghost Galaxy FP's!:thumbsup2

And one last question I didn't see an answer to, since we bought of DLPAP in May of this year, if we upgrade to the Premier, I assume that the expiration for the Premier would take the date of our original DPAP, correct?

Yes, the original date of your DLR PAP that you bought in May will be the same expiration date when you upgrade to the Premier.

I am a proud owner of the Premier Passport. :cool1: I am very excited to get this AP, but I am also kind of disappointed in it.

I upgraded my DL Premium AP to the Premier later during the day on Saturday at the Greetings from California store. Than when I got it processed, I took it over to DL and try it out. But when the CM scanned it, it showed no picture on the monitor just the details on the card. The CM told me that I need to get my picture on the AP card. I told them that the Premier doesn't need a photo on the card since it is in the computer.

Than on Sunday when my group was about to go into DL park during MM it had the same problem again and not showing my picture. The CM ask me to go the AP center to get it fix. I didn't go to the AP center until later during the day when I want to get a FP for WoC using the GCH entrance at 9am. When I hand over my AP to the CM, it wouldn't let me get a ticket. I told them about my situation and they told me to go to the AP center. Than I tried my card on one of the FP machines in DL, it wouldn't give me a FP. I went to the AP in DCA and told them my situation. When they check my card they can see my picture on the computer and said it should be fine. But it wasn't fine, later when I went shopping at the WoD Store, it didn't give me the discount and I had to wait for a CM manager to give me the discount.

I was kind of disappointed that the Premier didn't allow me to get FP for WoC and rides. Plus the pass couldn't be process for the AP discount, so I had to wait until a manager came by and use there cards for the discount. I read from other Premier holders they had a similar problem. I am going to WDW in two months and I'm hoping that it won't be the same as this weekend. I like to hear from other Premier holders if they had a similar problem and how to fix it.

Thank you

This may not be relevant because I upgraded my WDW AP to a Premier at WDW. I haven't had any problems at either WDW or DL. Got fastpasses at both DL and WDW with no problems. I needed to show my ID at the gates every once in a while (they said if that bothered me I could go to the AP processing center for a photo.) But I didn't mind showing ID at the gate and never made it over to the AP processing center. The CMs at both WDW and DL almost always recognized my pass, and on the rare occasion they did not, they were able to process the discount quickly by asking another CM.

Again, I understand those who purchased or upgraded at DL have had difficulties that we WDW vets have not. But I'm very optimistic that your pass will work well at WDW! By the way, I'm a huge fan of the EPCOT guest relations windows - if you have any difficulties, I'd suggest going to them for help!

this is horrible to hear this is STILL happening in Disneyland!!!!!!!!!!!! Get it together Disneyland. I suggest you go and get a regular ticket for the amount of days you will bein Disneyland from member services desk next to the ticket booths on the side of Disneyland. This will allow for fast passes etc. I will just plan to do that when i arrive to avoid frustration and my husband vowing to never visit Disneyland again lol. I finally talked him into going again hoping this would be fixed by now.. Guess not. 700 something dollars.....sheesh

I just want to put it out there that not everyone who upgrades at DL has issues. I am sorry to those who do and agree that it should not be happening. All four people in my family upgraded from Premium to Premier at DCA, and two of our friends also bought Premier passes at DCA, and none of us has had any problems.

Again, not trying to say that the issues people are having aren't there, but just wanted a good experience out there :goodvibes
