We're going to disney in Sept. My husband and I are taking my 2 year old (almost three year old ) daughter. WE're also going with some of my in laws. My mother and father in law, brother and sister in law and a niece and nephew. I'm going to be the party pooper because I'll be 5 months pregnant. Is there any rides at Disney, that I can ride and not be at risk? I've heard rides, such as A Small World should be okay. I've never been to Disney, so I'm not really sure. Please respond with any and all suggestions! Thanks so much!

Congratulations!!! I am going September 2nd and will be 3 months pregnant. Not sure what all I will ride but there are tons of pregnancy ok rides there..so you should have a great time. :thumbsup2

Most any ride that is not "roller coaster like".

no mountains, no rnr, no mission space, no tower of terror, no everest..stuff your 2yo can't do anyway.

I do think you could feasibly go on test track if you wanted to. It is nothing but a car ride--disney style. And I know there are pregnant women driving in convertibles on the freeway ;).

I would even venture on Kilamanjaro safari if you are up to it though it does get very bumpy hence the advisory.

Kali River rapids may be out b/c that is kind of rough--but most everything else you can do (and there is a lot though it doesn't seem like it after all of that :)).

Up for you enjoyment: All of Fantasyland, all of adventureland, a little bit of tomorrowland (for the race cars--have a member of your family drive safely behind you--I always do that b/c of my neck and it prevents any accidental rear endings as hubby makes sure to maintain several car lengths so even if he gets hit, he won't get me)....All the animal kingdom shows, all the non-rides in epcot, and most everything in MGM except the two rides I mentioned.

Plenty to do for fun when you are 5 months pregnant and vacationing with your 2yo. ;) Just keep to what she is allowed to do and enjoy! (except goofy's barnstormer--she can do that....but you shouldn't).

Hi Seadams- I went in April 2005 when I was 6.5 months pregnant with my DD. I had a wonderful time!! You can ride many attractions, but as others have said, you'll need to skip the roller coasters and bumpy rides. I also skipped Test Track and Kilimanjaro Safari b/c both can get bumpy. DON'T MISS SOARIN'!! It is very mild and gentle...like you're floating on a cloud...your daughter can't ride due to the height restriction, but it is not a problem for you. As far as Rock n Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror and some others you can't ride...some have very interesting preshows that would be worth your seeing with your family...then you and your DD can take the "chicken exit" while the others ride. Or you can take that time to rest, get a snack, or go to the restroom. Take plenty of breaks and stay hydrated! Have a wonderful vacation!! :sunny:

Also there are a ton of shows and stuff and tons of good food to eat. Really this list of nonrideables would be:
1. Rock n Roller Coaster
2. Tower of Terror (even this ride might be okay)
3. Space Mountain
4. Splash Mountain (although I think this would be fine)
5. Mission Space (this one is totally out)
6. Dinosaur
7. Primeval Whirl
8. TriceraTop Spin
9. Expedition Everest
10. Kali River Rapids
That sound like a lot but there is a lot more left.

Shameless plug for my trip report here, but I was in my sixth month of my third pregnancy when we made our first family trip to WDW in April and it was GREAT! (the trip report is 4.5 newbies...) Anyway, whatever our nearly 2 yo DS couldn't do I couldn't do so we didn't have to worry about baby swapping and it kept me at a pace that was probably better for me anyway!

Truly, it was a fabulous vacation and I didn't really feel like I missed out. I did do the Kali River Rapids and the Safari and felt that neither was particularly rough or risky. Then again this is the thrid time around for me and I have had easy and uneventful pregnancies. I'd go on the Safari today if I could get to WDW just in an attempt to get this late baby out of me!

Have a great trip. It will be a wonderful experience for sure!

I agree with most of the previous posts. I travelled to WDW at 6 mos. preggers and had a great time. I almost cried when I saw Space Mountain and knew I couldn't ride, but I'm a roller junkie. I think that you could easily do Triceratop Spin (Dumbo with dinos). I also think you might be okay on Splash, but that's really about how big your belly is. You may also be denied boarding on a ride that has pregnancy restrictions. There's a ton for you to do, though. Go and have a great time!

I went at just shy of 5 months pregnant this past May. Talk to your OB about it and what you should avoid/what is safe to ride. Mine approved riding anything other than Mission Space, Tower of Terror, Rock n Rollercoaster and Space Mountain. I did Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain and Test Track with my kids with no problems. I would add the Tomorrowland Speedway to that only b/c if you get bumped hard from behind, you could end up with a hurt back since your stomach muscles aren't supporting your back as well as they used to. We did not go to AK during that trip but I would have done anything there other than Everest. My OBs advice was anything that didn't involve a lot of G-force and that my belly did not keep the saftey restraints from working properly was fine. At that point, my belly was not an issue. My docotr felt that at that point, baby is still so small and well protected that rides would not really hurt it or pose a miscarriage risk. I had a CM at Splash stop me and asy that it was not recommended for pregnant women. I said that my doctor OKed it and asked if I could still go on. The CM said "yeah, it's fine if you are OK with it. We just have to warn you in case you didn't see the sign." She then leaned in and said "lots of very pregnant women ride it though." I can only speak from my experience but I felt better having my doctor, who knew me, my history and my pregnancy, give me advice on what was OK and what wasn't. Even if you skip everything with a warning, there is still plenty you can ride. Anything your 2 year old can ride, you'll be able to ride too.

Congrats on your pregnancy! Have a great trip!

I went to Disney in August 2003 when I was 4 months pregnant (and had our 2 1/2 DD). I went on Kilamanjaro Safaris. After talking to the CM, I discovered that there is the pregnancy warning due to the bumpiness (like others have mentioned), he said that it wan't too bad in the fornt though, so I asked him to put us in the front row. It wasn't bad at all.

Something else that I didn't see mentioned tht my doctor told me not to ride was the Tea Cups. He said that I couldn't ride anything that spun.

Most of the rides that you can't go on, your 2 1/2 yo won't be able to go on either, so it should work out just fine like it did for me. My parents went with us, so my DH still got to go ont he big rides with someone.

Have a great time!

Turn that frown upside down! :teeth: On our last trip I was almost 5 months along. Sure, there were things I couldn't do. But there was still a lot I *could* do! Not sure if it was mentioned, but Soarin' is ok for preggos, it's very gentle. I rode that, but didn't do the Safari as I felt it would be too bumpy.

Congrats, have a great trip! :wizard:

I definately wouldn't cancel. There are a lot of things you can do (as you've been reading) and it would be a great opportunity to spend some really fun time with your 2 year old before the baby comes. I haven't been to disney pregnant, but I would have loved to do something fun with my daughter before we had our second baby.

I forgot about the teacups. I would think that it would also depend on your nausea. I know not being pregnant I feel little bit of a bellyache after the teacups.

I agree with previous posters - I have been to WDW twice while very pregnant - Had a great time! I avoided the coasters but did no safari ride - I talked to a CM who suggested I sit in the front so we asked for front car and had no problem (If you've ever ridden on PA roads you know some of our public roads are worse!). Since there is so much walking, just make sure you schedule rest and lots of water!

We went practically every week during my last pregnancy... you CAN go on most of the non-roller-coaster rides... so you won't have a problem staying busy on your vacation! You'll do fine!

There are signs on every ride... and many will say "do not ride if you're expecting"... but I think I broke some of the rules...

The teacups... just don't SPIN your cup... it's totally tolerable when pregnant...
The Indy Speedway... I just made sure my husband was driving right behind me so that nobody could BUMP me...

But most of the other rides are just fine! Have fun on your trip!

We went when I was 4 months pregnant and it was my son's first trip (he was almost 3). I would say stick to anything that they can ride. If you child is tall enough for Kali River Rapids then go on it - I did - 3 times. We loved it and it was not bumpy at all. I don't feel that I missed out on anything while I was pregnant - I love Space Mountain, Tower of Terror and Splash Mountain - but felt like there was even more to do since I had a little one that couldn't ride the big rides anyway. This way you can ride the things that your child especially loves more than once!!

Hi! I wasn't pregnant the last time we went, but I will be this time. I was looking at our old maps and there are a ton of things that I can do, very few that I can't. Make sure to do the 3D shows! They are fun for everyone. There are lots of shows and plays too! You can also look on the WDW website and check out each ride and attractions and it's requirements. Most are pregnant friendly!

Hope you have a great time!

We went last September to celebrate our 4th anniversary. I was 6mth pregnant with our second child and my first was only 18mths old. Most of the rides that you can't go on your 2 1/2 year old won't be able to go on either.

So it should work out just fine there are may other things you can do. We met friend there and DH went on rides with them while I watch my and their 6mth old son. We loved going to the show and my son love the little water play areas. Just drink a lot of fluids take rest in shady spot like stores and enjoy the trip with your family.

That's funny! When I was pregnant the first time I was so miserable at the end. My husband and I decided to take a drive. Since we're just three minutes from the PA line, that was our destination! It didn't work for kicking me into labor... but my goodness, they were definately rough roads!

Thank you for posting this question. I'll be 6 months pregnant when we go this September.
