Disney and Niagara Falls,Canada ?

I know of a previous thread about Disney looking at property in NF's area and it was mostly dismissed as "won't happen". We just returned from a weekend on the Canadian side and they are still displaying their Winter Festival Lights which were dominated by Disney displays. Even the shop windows on Clinton Hill and Victoria Str were decked out with Dis charactors. Is this normal for this area ? While I don't think WDW will ever build a DVC resort or a theme park here, I do think a themed hotel with a smaller version of SAB under glass and an attached DQ would be a big success. The Falls are such a huge draw as is, a Disney resort hotel would just be icing on the cake.

Disney is a large sponser of the Festival of Lights on the Canadian side of the falls. Characters are usually in the parade, and as you stated the characters are dominant in the displays. Although I'd lke to see something else, I have my doubts that it would come to fruition.

Niagara Falls, Ontario has been using Disney characters in their Festival of Lights displays for years now. If there's any truth to Disney coming to the Falls, it probably has nothing to do with the Festival displays.

I remember somewhere in all the tributes to Walt last year seeing/hearing something that Niagara Falls was one of the places he had originally looked at to build the second park that is now WDW. The weather, however, wasn't as appealing as Florida!

I realize there is no way of knowing, but I'd like to know how many people visit WDW just because of this light show. Just walking down the sidewalk Saturday nite we heard three families say to the affect " let's go to disney", and this was on a slow weekend with nothing "extra" going on. I think a Disney resort hotel with charactor breakfast's would be a big hit. They could even show on the in-room TV's the same WDW stuff that we get when we stay on property. Parents would have to book a trip just to shut their kids up.

It's just a rumour at this time but we can still dream!

The Festival of Lights has Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Donald, Chip and Dale down (up) for Opening Weekend. They put on a small Christmas Show and then turn on the lights! It's a little bit of magic in the cold north!

Just going to see the lights, not really worth it. But Opening Weekend, Great! A children's foundation even sponsors a character breakfast with Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and Goofy!

DD and I went down this year for our first time and really enjoyed ourselves. Unfortunately experienced tire problems and could not make it to the DisMeet that was planned.

It would be nice if Disney made something permanent in NF, 'cause then could make mini vacation trips!
