Anyone who has had can you give me any tips on food choices when it coems to this? I am 3 months out so i am on normal foods but I am not sure what I can find there and where?

I know no bread, no chicken nuggets, not fries... but I am hoping someone can tell me what they did eat....

Hey there,

I have not been yet, our trip is the end of November. However, I have always had a lot of special needs for foods. On our last trip we had the Deluxe Dining plan and it was great because I was always able to find something good for me to eat with the table service meals. For this trip we are doing the same thing. For the most part of our last two trips it seemed like most of the Counter Service places have either fried options or salads. I am currently 8 months out from surgery and can now eat some salads but have to make sure they have a fair amount of protein in them too.

In your situation being still so new out of surgery, I would just buy food out of pocket and ask for like half plates of food or see if someone else in your party is willing to share with you. I doubt you will be able to eat much more than an appetizer or child's portion. Just make sure you are keeping yourself hydrated. Bring shakes with you just in case the wait for food is long so your blood sugar stays level. I am bringing premade shakes with me because we are having most of our breakfasts in a park or another resort. So I will need something first thing in the morning so I don't get sick.

I would talk to your surgeon or nutritionist about any suggestions they have for you. You can have groceries delivered to your hotel from off site places like Garden Grocer. If you bring a note from your surgeon you can get a mini fridge for free if your hotel does not come with one for medical reasons as well as if you do decide to get a meal plan, you could get the child price for the plan for yourself.

Just remember that there are things like burgers and such that you can take the bun off of and things like that. Yogurt is pretty easy to find, but sadly I am now lactose intolerant so I can't have them :(. I would suggest table service meals though if you can.

Good luck to you, congrats, and have fun!
