Hi everyone!! So our once in a lifetime holiday has left us desparate for more and we're looking to go back next August 2016 - yay!!! Although this time we want to take in more of what Florida has to offer, namely a bit of beach action to satisfy my need to chill and OH need for fishing!

Have started looking into the Keys but there's so much to it I thought I'd see if anyone else has done anything similar and if so, any recommendations?

OR Miami?

Lol!!! But actually SOO EXCITED TO GET BACK TO DISNEY!!!!!

Hi. We have just booked for may 2016. We are flying into miami, doing a 6 day road trip a d then to Disney for 2 weeks.

There are very few beaches on Key West. If you are looking for beaches you'll be better on Miami. I like seeing the sites and our current plan is: miami to key west. 2 nights in key West. Drive through everglades to Marco Island one night, up the gulf coast (3 nights) and ending in orlando.

Miami isn't my favourite but others love it -so far it's the only place in Florida I wouldn't return to. Compared to everywhere else, it was much more dirty and overcrowded.

The Keys are nice but a long drive; there are equally nice places within a few hours of Orlando. There aren't many "real" beaches in the Keys.

I'd look for somewhere in the SE or SW coast, or a flight to Cancun!

I love the Keys, lots of places to visit and very relaxed.
Beaches aren't as readily available but the Bahia Honda state park is a lovely beach & nature reserve - well worth a visit.

Hi... We're doing Orlando & Keys this year I'll let you know how it goes, we've done Orlando & Clearwater a few times now , we love Clearwater its stunning and would maybe consider even living there at some point in our life.. Miami not so keen we've stayed overnight and once for 3 days didn't really float my boat nor my wife or DD.. Hoping the Keys lives up to all the amazing stories I've heard from family and friends... Can't wait now 12 Days in DW Orlando & 6 in the Keys :cool1::rotfl::banana:

Not a fan of Key West .... 2 nights enough .... provided you find a place to stay.

A very Very SLOW Drive through The Keys ...... 30 MPH sometimes 45 MPh the whole way.

If staying in Miami .... look up .. The Duck Tour ..... boat on land & water.

We absolutely loved The Keys when we went and would go back in a heartbeat. It is very laid back and relaxed. We stayed half way down the Keys (at a beautiful resort called Hawks Cay) and used that as a base to travel from. I wouldn't have wanted to stay too long in Key West particularly, there is so much to see on the other 'islands'. One of our favourite things was a nature walk we did where we saw alligators, birds, deer and all sorts of other creatures. Amazing.

Although I haven't stayed too long in Miami, we had a stay there in May, prior to a cruise. We visited the Holocaust Memorial, which was stunning and very moving, and I would highly recommend a visit there if you are planning any time in Miami.

We are in Key West now for 5 nights. We love it down here. We first visited for a day on a cruise, 2nd time anther day on a cruise, 3rd time stayed 2 nights, this time 5 nights.
Its such a relaxing place. Our resort has a private beach but we prefer the pool, sunsets are amazing.

I don't have any issues at all with the drive, yes at times it can be slow but why would you want to drive at 70mph past views around the Keys? its stunning scenery most of the way. I am the one slowing everyone else down.

Don't like Miami at all.
