And the reason people freeze margaritas is to disguise the fact that they're using cheap, bad tequila (this is also the reason that people started salting the rim of the glass). Just sayin'. If you want a good margarita, get one on the rocks at La Cava del Tequila.

Who told you that?, They can serve cheap tequila even alone. And the margarita HAD ALWAYS had salt in the rim, in fact, the first time that they used salt, was in beer, around the can, and then the put lime also. I am forty something and I remembered even as a child, that margaritas had salt in the rim. Also, if you drink it on the rocks,the tequila is going to be diluted, they way to take it, is straight up, with a caballito de sangrita. You can always ask the server to use in your margarita the type of tequila that you want in your drink.
