Hi! Well we have added some to our family and planning to go back to Disney in September. Past visits we stayed at Contempory and Wilderness Lodge. We the increase in the family we are looking at the mods. Wow the prices have gone up! I would love to be at a Delux but it looks out of our price point. Neither AKL or WL sleep 5 comfortable. We need to be able to sleep 5. Me and husband. Kids ages are 15,12 and 2. The two year old sleeps in the bed with us and I am sure she will be then also. Any advice would be great on resorts. Thank you in advance.

You are able to book AKL or WL with 5 as long as one is under 2. So, if your two year old is still two in Sept you will be able to stay there. You can either get two queen beds or a queen and a set of bunk beds. I am not sure why you think that would be uncomfortable? Are you looking for separate rooms? A suite at AOA might be a good idea. THE KIDS WOULD PROBABLY LOVE THE THEMING. Also you can sleep five in rooms at CBR and at POR.

Good luck!

I will check in to those. I believe when I priced them the bunk beds were a bit more than the standard. Out of our budget on the standard anyways. With two queens it would be a little tight. We have a king now and fit well. My husband is 6'2 250. So I think it would be a bit snug with myself, little one and husband. The other two kids would share a queen. 15 and 12.

I like the idea of the two queens and the pull down twin. I think CBR and PO offers those. If you had to pick between those what what would you pick?

I just can't see paying so much more for the deluxe. It's a pretty big jump per night.

The family suites (either at All star music or AofA) are great. Keep in mind that in addition to a separate bedroom they have two full bathrooms which would be nice with your older two kids. Also the second TV and living room area for them or actually for everyone if the little one needs to get to bed earier than everyone else or nap. We also love having the small kitchen, and use it to have breakfast every morning as everyone is getting ready, rather than trying to get everyone ready and head over together to the food court. To me it is a quiet and stress free start to the day!

We are excited about our upcoming stay in Art of Animation family suites. Separate master bedroom and 2 bathrooms!

Personally, I would be happy in either POR or CBR, as long as I had a room in a preferred location. CBR has a really nice pool area for younger children especially. I would like to point out that Disney will provide a pack n play or a crib for the 2 year old and you CAN stay with the four of you plus a two year old in a room that technically sleeps only 4. You would not have to have the baby sleep in the bed with you. If you stay in a sleeps 5 room at CBR or POR, the bed takes the place of storage in what was once the dresser. POR is currently refurbishing the main pool - I expect that will be finished by September, but I don't really know. CBR has recently been refurbished and is beautiful so I would perhaps give a slight edge to staying here. Another option is a preferred room in CSR. there is a great pool here that might work better for you with 12 and 15 year olds. You don't have the fold down kiddie bed as an option here, but again, you could get a pack n play or crib (free) for the little one.

(It's just my opinion, but WL or AKL rooms are larger than the POR or CBR rooms and have the advantage of a balcony to use when kids are asleep. You can have two queen beds plus a pack n play or a crib for the toddler and have more room, more facilities, and perhaps stay at very close to the same price point as a moderate with a discount. I would keep checking on discounts. September can have some very good deals that you may well be able to take advantage of and stay deluxe for about the same as a moderate. I am just suggesting that you not count it out entirely. You and DH will only have a queen bed either way if you are looking at a two queen bedroom. I don't believe that you can get a hotel room anywhere with a King and a queen bed. if you were looking for that.)

I have to agree that unless you have a great deal on a deluxe, the moderate prices are much more reasonable. Most deluxe resorts start at or around the $400 per night. Looking at a random night in September, the two lowest rates that I saw were for WL at $289, AKL at $308 and the BC for $356.

However:
That same random night in September showed rack rate at CSR $185 standard, $233 preferred; CBR at $183 standard or $247 preferred; WL at $289 standard. preferred mod vs WL standard is a difference of only about $50 which would be even smaller if a larger percentage discount was available for deluxe resorts for September.

My choice would be to book CSR with a preferred room and a crib for $233 (or CBR with a sleeps five room, preferred for $247) and keep an eye out for discounts for September including any 'magical' deals and combined discounts that might be available.

Good luck!

I'd opt for a preferred room at CBR, my kids would enjoy the pool area more than the one at POR.

I just booked CBR for a family of 5. One thought-if you are not technically a family of 5 (the 2 year old still 2 when you go) they will say they can't promise you a Murphy bed, because they reserve those for the "true" family of 5's. So that may or may not be a risk you want to take. Both that resort and POR have 2 queen beds to a room though-I don't think you will get a King in a 4 person room anywhere. I think you'd have to get a family suite to get that.

You may want to look into renting Vacation Club points as well. For Mods, my personal favorite is the PO (either Riverside or French Quarter). But they are all nice. I second the idea of looking into the Fort Wilderness Cabins though, if you don't want to rent DVC, I think that might be pretty close to what you are looking for (for what it's worth, I have never done them so I can't tell you how nice they are).
