Disney after hours- worth it?

We are spending 3 days in Orlando after our Disney cruise at the end of this month. Originally I had only planned a day at a water park and just hanging out at our hotel pool, maybe visiting some of the hotel resorts etc... I just read that MK will be offering Disney after hours while we are in Orlando. I had no intention of visiting MK this trip but I am now very intrigued by the idea of having the park to ourselves with very little wait time on the rides. Does anyone have experience with this? I'd love to read some feedback. The reviews I can find are mostly in the winter when the hour are from 8-11 etc.. The hours at the end of June are from 10pm-1am! I would have my 2 kids(ages 11 and 8) with me but I know they would totally be fine with the late hours. But will they be the only kids there? Am I crazy to even consider this?

We've done the morning magic hours ticket and it's totally worth it IMO, no waits and in some cases we rode rides several times in a row. I don't know what lands/areas are included in the after hours, for the morning one it was only fantasyland and it did not include all fantasyland rides. I don't believe they'd be the only kids there that late, mine are the same age and they would love that. Sounds super fun. I don't think you're crazy at all

In case you haven’t see it, the first post on this thread (towards the bottom) has a collection of links to reviews/opinions on DAH: "Official" 2018 Disney After Hours (DAH) Thread - NEWS: 11 Summer/Early Fall Dates Added

But as you noted, all of these reviews are going to be from the winter DAH nights.

We have not seen “late” DAH events like these upcoming summer dates since a short-run of 7 nights mid-April through mid-May 2016. Those events were hastily announced, poorly advertised, at a much higher price, and were rather poorly attended.

My “assumption” is that you’ll see summer DAH reviews that are pretty similar to what we’ve seen for both the winter 2017 and 2018 DAH dates. Unless Disney were to materially increase the ticket count, I don’t see much of a reason to think the summer dates will be much different overall.

Granted I may be biased, but your plan doesn’t sound too crazy at all to me. These types of events can be a great option for a short window like yours, where you otherwise weren’t planning much/any park time. If you don’t mind the later hours with the kiddos, seems like a good way to get in some MK time to me. :-)

Whatever you decide, hope you have a great trip!

I'm going on July 28th with my 14 yo DD. We fly in to Orlando at 7:30 that morning and check in to the Boardwalk Inn CL. It will be a long day, but from the reports I've read seems so worth it especially with the AP rate.

Yes, yes, a million times yes! Best event we’ve ever been upcharged for!

I went with my two kids (ages 7 and 9) in March and the hours were 9-12. It was so awesome! My kids loved every second of it. I just booked a "last minute" trip for July and bought tickets for July 14. Can't wait!

And honestly in the summer, those late hours are the best! Not so darn hot.
