Disney After Hours - thoughts?

They haven't been specific as to how many tickets will be sold. There was a rumor that it would be around 3,009. In the blog post it says it will be very limited.

I think they should be specific about how many tickets are available for this as well as the Halloween and Christmas parties. When you make your purchase your ticket should indicate what number you are of how many available. As an example if I buy the first ticket for the Christmas party and 20,000 are available my ticket would say 1 of 20,000.

It's seems to be pretty similar to EMH but 3 hours. And the price seems kind of insane at $149 but that's expected with Disney and they would want to only have a select group of people to go so the lines really are short. I think it's a crazy idea. Thoughts?
Can't justify $149 if they let in as many as MNSSHP and other similar events and likewise can't justify $70 for MNSSHP if this works with similar crowds. Not too worried about EMH going away as they have to offer incentives to fill rooms. Just hope they don't go crazy on price of other events.

Feel fortunate now at having been able to at least enjoy some things that are gone forever. First free dining trip we took was in 2008 and it covered most of Aug. Full dining plan even at value, not the QS. Back then MK regular hours was midnight on many nights and sometimes as late as 1am. EMHs was 3 not 2 hours. I remember 2 or 3 nights that trip being in park past 3am. Very low crowds but all rides running AND character greetings everywhere.

In 2013 we were "lucky" enough to be there again during a Friday 13th in Sept and they announced HS staying open till like 1am with special Villians events, limited edition merch and other things. Last couple of years that has become a special ticketed event but free that night. But talk about crowds! I left at midnight and there was still more people waiting to get in than I've ever seen. They were parking guests in EPCOT and DTD and busing them in. That's why lucky was in quotes.

Nowadays parks all close so early and EMHs of 2 result in park closings about the same as the old regular hours. But hey, that's life in a supply and demand world.

I don't think Disney will ever do that unfortunately.

They really ought to because it's disingenuous selling "limited supply" items when you can just alter the number of tickets on a whim. But they won't obviously because more tickets equals more money.

And unfortunately Disney's idea of a few people is different to most visitors, thus the complains about how crowded Halloween and Christmas are getting and the litany of complains about the Villains thing they did a couple of years ago which was crazily oversold.

Maybe they've learned... maybe.

It's just seams like $150 for three hours is out of reach for the average family. is this an another attempt to make the park for the wealthy only. I really think they should tell us how many tickets they are going to sell. I remember when MVMCP first started, they had far fewer people then they today

Well technically it's more than three hours because they allow entry starting at 7PM. The benefits of the event don't start until the park closes and those three hours start though. Because of the cost of this event I don't think it will be as many people as the holiday parties but I could be wrong.

If this is even remotely successful I think a jump in the holiday party prices is inevitable.

It could be a fun experience – but worth the price? Not in my opinion. Or at least not for the average family. I have a feeling despite the "limited tickets" claim, it'll be way more crowded than expected.

All of the proposed dates are Thursdays and according to Josh at easywdw are rated 4 or 5 out of 10. Magic Kingdom is also the "most recommended" park those days. So if a one day ticket costs $125 for 9am - 10pm and it's a low crowd day, why would you buy an x-tra ticket for $150 to be there from 7pm to 1am? It's not like the parties where they have special events that you can only see then, like parades and fireworks. Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't get it.:confused3

Jim Hill says this should be around 3,000 guests

Call me cynical; I'm sure they will be limited, but I personally think WDW will keep on cranking them out well beyond 3,000 if there are enough people willing to pay. :goodvibes

I think it all depend on how many they sell but I think limited capacity it the biggest selling point in this event.

I don't disagree at all, but we have seen how Disney can be with their limited number of tickets sold for an event. I cannot be convinced events such as MNSSHP and MVMCP sold out limits have not been raised over the years. I'm willing to bet the limited number of tickets sold for this EMH is going to be at least 10,000 which is about 1/10th of the parks capacity. But then again I may be wrong, perhaps Disney will be interested in not only making a few bucks (actually a lot) but actually giving those paying for this event something for their money as well other than gouging and pixie dust.

Even if it's 10,000 you're still going to see a lot of walk on attractions so people will think it's worth it,

This is very true, which leads me to believe it can be even greater than 10,000... I guess time will tell. :goodvibes

If it was that few then I think we're talking about a very different experience than say 15,000.

But, if Disney won't actually say, I'd be worried about them selling extra tickets.

That is the big question. To a certain extent the early Disney magic seems to support the lower end of the limit. There is no way you would want to open an exclusive event with three rides and 15,000 people. It would be a disaster and I am sure they would be refunding people's money for those that didn't get to ride.

I'm quit certain breakfast is not part of the equation during the extended evening hours for $150. :)

My mistake, but the breakfast should at least keep the numbers low for the morning version. They could definitely try and push the limits until people complain for the evening hours.
