As long as you are attending some sort of classes at an approved type of educational institution, I THINK you are eligible to apply for PIs? I know it works for the CP but not sure for the PI. You would want to pick a place that has a lot of interns, which typically means it will be easier for you to stay on after as there are more positions. I am in a PI right now and there are three interns in the entire department and positions are hard to come by- but I know that getting into the company will be easier than I thought because it is SO easy to make connections here to people in fields you want to be in- they highly encourage it and help you out.
