Disney Adventures magazine

I was wondering why I kept getting the Family Fun magazine in the mail...until this thread I had totally forgotten that my daughter had ordered the Disney magazine through a fundraiser at school. Thanks for the info!

Yes, I now have TWO subscriptions to Family Fun, and I hate the danged thing. It is the default for continuations of BOTH the Disney Magazine and Disney Adventures. Repeated attempts to get rid of it have failed.

We had about 2 1/2 years left on our subscription. About a month ago, we got a postcard saying that my son was going to start getting Sports Illustrated Kids to replace Disney Adventures. We have yet to get an issue of SIK, but I hope we will soon. The postcard said to expect our first issue in 6 - 8 weeks. We were just going to renew his SIK subscription. Hopefully it all works out the right way. Ds will be happy, he loves his SIK probably more than the DA.

I found this number
800-829-5146

I need to find the magazine I saved and call them again. I called at least a month ago and was told letters were being sent out the next week.

I am pissed - I just signed up for it in September - I never received aything about it being cancelled. I already get Family Fun & have it renewed for about 3 years so I do not need that.

My dd11 also subscribed to Disney Adventures last year and loved it! We renewed it through her school fundraiser and received a letter saying it was no longer being published and that we were going to get a subscription to Family Fun instead. It is also published by Disney. You might want to check and see if you can get the remainder of your subscription switched over to that. It isn't a magazine for kids but you might enjoy it.

That's what we got as well. My Family Fun now is up to Sept. 2012!

Thanks Kathy...

I'm on the phone now with a very confused rep. They answer the phone "Disney Adventures Magazine"... She's telling me that the remainder of my subscription was transferred to Family Fun - in November 2006 ! 2006? I don't think so. So, now she's getting her manager to figure out what's going on. She's back on the line saying that No - your subscription was transferred to another magazine - but she has no idea which one. :confused3 I asked who has the information? She says she doesn't know! I said that really isn't acceptable - especially from a company with the Disney name.

To end the call - she gave me the number for Sports Illustrated for Kids and told me to call them to see if my subscription had been transferred to them. Huh? :confused3

This certainly was handled with a total lack of planning on Disney's part. You know that Disney introduced "Adventures by Disney" - the new travel program. I wonder if that was one of the factors in ceasing publication of the Disney Adventures Magazine?

I'm now looking for an email address to express my displeasure with the whole arrangement!

We ordered through a fundraiser and got a letter saying we could switch to the Nick magazine..we did..but I think DS7 would have loved the Disney mag.

I'm very disappointed by all this. We didn't want Sports Illustrated for kids but it appears we have no choice!!

DisneyMissy if you find a # or email to complain to someone who actually knows whats going on or seems to care please let me know. I am very unhappy with the way they have handled this situation:sad1:

I didnt realize it had stopped, but it has been a few months. DD loved this magazine, I wish they hadnt stopped it. It also explaing the family fun magazine, grrrrr!

ITA. I have no need for SI Kids. My SS gets the regular SI. My DD would rather have something else. Even Time for Kids would be great. SI Kids.. not interested.

Thanks for posting this. I had been wondering why we hadn't received a new issue, knowing that we had another couple years left on our subscription. I called and they are telling me I should get a letter in the next couple weeks and if not to call back at that point.

I had wondered why I hadn't seen any new issues at the store. I used to read it sometimes at work when I worked late, and there was nothing better to do.

I am very disappointed in how they have handled all this. Obviously they knew they were discontinuing but instead of having a plan they just ended without notifying anyone or anything and obviously still took new orders too!

My emails I get answered back are vague and dont answer my question. they dont seem to understand that 3 months after they have stopped publishing they still dont have an answer for many people is not acceptable!

We dont want Family Fun. We already get it for free somehow and we dont really like it. Our kids are older and it doesnt focus on them. SI for Kids is good if your kids are into multiple sports but soccer is it here and they arent interested in that one either. You would have thought they would work something out with other magazines and offered to their subscribers an option before it stopped being published.

Just wanted to post an update to the Disney Adventures saga!

We received the replacement magazine today...

Note on the cover -

Dear Disney Adventures Subscriber:

As you may have heard, Disney Adventures recently stopped publishing. Through special arrangement, select Disney Adventures subscribers are now going to receive copies of ....

(Wait for it.....)

BOY's LIFE - the magazine for all boys!

Now, since I am the mother to an only child and that child is a GIRL - what use do I have with Boys' Life????

They gave us no choice in the matter - no Family Fun, no Sports Illustrated for Kids - NO - my Daughter gets BOYS LIFE!

I called the number for Disney Adventures Customer Service - 800-829-5146 - the phone is answered "Disney Adventures magazine" - I gave her the information to look up our subscription - which was in my daughter's name! I told her that we received Boys Life - she was non-commital - and just said that I would need to call Boys Life to cancel my subscription and they would refund whatever monies they received for what was left on the subscription. What do you want to bet that Disney bought these subscriptions for pennies on the dollar??

I called the number she gave me for Boys Life (866-584-6589) and I got a recording - I wonder how many calls they have received? UUGGGHHH!!

This whole thing has made me so mad! :headache:

I got a letter stating that they were replacing my subscription with Sports Illustrated Kids OR I could call and get a refund for the amount equal to the cost of the remaining issues.

I called to get the refund, it was easy and I had a check with in the week.

Kimba

No letter for us. I even called about this back in January and the CS agent said the files were closed and they couldn't add any information to accounts. She said that some accounts received a choice and others did not!

Sound like it worked out for you.

What kind of refund did you get? We have like 2 years left and they tried to give us Family Fun which I emailed and said 'no' I told you I dont want that so they sent an email back saying a refund would be processed. I cant imagine it being much

received a letter saying it was no longer being published and that we were going to get a subscription to Family Fun instead.

That's the same letter we got. It's really funny how we haven't gotten an issue of Disney Adventure or Family Fun in months, and when I call, both tell me to call the other one
