I have not previewed any of the rides at WDW, but did buy a guidebook that had advice about what would be appropriate and what isn't. My sons (2 and 4) have not been afraid of much at WDW and at
MNSSHP we tried HM for the first time and it will be a while again before we ride it. They didn't like it, nor did they scream or have nightmares.
I stayed away from Snow White our first couple of trips, but finally decided to give it a go and they like it as well. I was concerned about the darkness in Peter Pan, but quickly discovered that they are too focused on what they CAN see to be nervous.
I had NOT done any looking into Stitch and did assume with such a short height requirement and the fact that it was Stitch that it would be appropriate. Also, standing in line gabbing with my hubby, sons and mother-in-law about the beautiful Christmas decorations, I didnt even notice the signage outside either. However, all that I did was reach out and hold their hands when it got dark and they were fine. Didn't seem concerned at all. That doesn't mean the next time the 2 year old wont be upset. However, they both have excellent ride memories and will tell me if they want to go on something or not. I liked the ride and they did too (getting the "do it again" thumbs up from my 2 year old). It was cute to me and stitch was cool looking. It was entertaining to them and made them happy, that is why I go to the parks anyway - so I am thrilled to ride things that make them smile. (my goodness...how many times can I get queasy on the tea cups or the barnstormer? Apparently as many times as they desire!!!

)
This isn't about bad parenting. The thread has somehow rambled. If she chooses to tell Disney about her experience, I certainly support that. If no one speaks up and lets them know how it is effecting their children, rides that do need to be changed never would. I am not sure if I think that Stitch needs to be changed or not, but feedback is important. They get lots of "positive feedback" from the rest of us in the form of spending our hard earned money to come back again and again!
I think they went cheap on this one (using something existing) and they don't know who it is intended for. I think they wanted something "new" and saw a chance to make it happen without thinking it through. Time will tell what should happen along with the size of the lines to get in.
People that post on these boards or are Disney enthusiasts WILL preview and talk before hand and plan their trips, but I suspect we are the exceptions to the rule. No - I KNOW we are. How many tired, frustrated people do you see in the parks that cannot understand why they just waited in like all day and rode 3 rides because they spent the rest of the time wandering around unsure of what to do or where to go. These are the people that REALLY need to pay attention to signage. Maybe they need to show something (on the televisions) in the first room as a warning with an exit readily available - - - just to make sure people SEE the warnings. Doesn't even have to be part of the ride they show, simply bright and flashing. I have faith that it will all come out fine.
