Disney Addicts??

Hi I'm Lisa and I'm addicted to Disney.

I still have the birnbaums for years past and still refer to them. Even though I have read them cover to cover. My DH's family think I'm ill. It's all I think about the majority of the time. Going back, when, where to eat, to stay, which water park?

Is there a cure? I doubt I'll ever outgrow it as I'm 40.

Me an addict ? No way ...... Does anyone know how many points I would have to get to live all year round in a one- bedroom at the Boardwalk ? HEE HEEE....

:p :p :p :bounce: :Pinkbounc :jester:

Yes, we're Disney addicts, and I for one am proud of it! I teach high school and the students figure it out when they see my Disney pins that I wear ever day and the picture of me with Mickey and Minnie that I keep on my desk. When someone says, "What's this? It's like you're ADDICTED to Disney!" I always say "Yes, and there are worse addictions-drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, pornography [pause while the teenaged boys giggle and elbow each other], etc. So I'm a Disney addict and proud that of all the addictions, I have that one."

YES, YES, YES!!! I too am a Disney addict. I read and re-read all the guide books and buy new ones every year! I get all the new vacation planning videos and sometimes call 3X to get all the versions! (Adultsw/no kids, families, and seniors!) (Just answer the questions differently each time...even a new birthday!) My friends think I'm crazy for actually planning my WDW trip each year. ("What do you have to plan...You've been there a million times!) Oh, those non-Disney types will just never get it! Oh well! I hope this is one addiction there is no cure for!!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Hey, what's the number to get the video's? I like to get one.

I just love anything Disney! Its great to know that there are others like myself.( we are the sane ones). I love to see the men that are into disney because Dh just doesn't get it. He gets mad at me for always talking about it or planning my next trip. I have my Dgd (4 years old ) and Dgs ( 2 years old ) so brainwashed they know more characters then I do.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who can't live without a Disney fix every day. I just returned from a business trip to Denver, and since I didn't have my laptop with me, I had to go two whole weeks without reading these boards or checking Orlando's weather or jumping on mousesavers.com, etc, etc. I didn't think I would make it. I even went to Barnes and Noble and bought the Unofficial Guide (even though we already own one) just so I could read about Disney every evening.
Does anyone else go to the local Disney store at the mall just to see if there's anything new there you haven't seen yet? My wife and I do this about once a week.

Kendallkat2, One Disneyitis per your request:

Disneyitis (Dis ney i' tis) n 1. Condition related to the uncontrollable desire to return to the World. Subjects with this condition are known to frequent note files, web pages, and newsgroups. Only known relief is a trip to Walt Disney World. There is no permanent cure....and no cure is being researched as those afflicted don't WANT one! Has also been known to infect Disneylanders. People who suffer from Disneyitis have also been known to spend an unusual amount of time at their local Disney Stores to temporarily relieve some of the symptoms associated with the disease. They will also tape, watch, re-watch, and re-re watch Disney videos, specials, parades, vacation planners, etc. Also will subscribe to Disney Magazine, and will read every brochure on Disney they can get their hands on. They will sport hats, coats, jackets, pants, and carry bags with Disney logos. Can't go more than one full year without going to the world without becoming suicidal, or worse, Homicidal! And no matter how many vacation days they take, they always seem to get ticked off at everything one or even two days before they have to leave the world and go back to the rat race.

I know I have Disneyitis and I love it, it is a part of me. There is not a day that goes by that I do not read something about Disney, or think about Disney. I couldn't "not think" about Disney even if I tried since my office, house and car are decorated with tons of Disney stuff, my watch that I wear everyday is Mickey, my checks are Disney checks, I always play Disney CDs in my car, I always have at least one trip in the works, etc. I would not want it any other way, Disney makes me happy and that is a good thing!

I guess there are worse addictions then Disney, so if I'm an addict, at least I picked a harmless one. Inexpensive no,harmless yes.

My name is Annmarie and I am a Disney-addict! I don't want to join a Disney annonomous either! I know this addiction will last at least 40 years and I hope that it is contagious because I want to make sure DS has it and passes it on for generations to come!!

Count us in! Even before we joined DVC I was at the DS at the local mall several times a week. I was there so often that this past August while walking through the MK a man came up to me and asked, "Remember me?" It was the old manager of the DS that had been gone from the store for 5 years! Our youngest DD was just a baby the last time he saw her. Cast members at the store got quite a laugh when I told them I saw him at MK.

Yes, neighbors don't even ask where we're going when we tell them we're going on vacation. Won't they be surprised when DH and I go to Hawaii in Dec for our anniversary!

Reading about it is one thing. Flying down there nine times a year is something else.

I just had a coworker say to me "When you're not here I go in your office and look at your Disney pictures."

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention:

We leave for the Polynesian in 13 days, 16 hours, 3 minutes and 5 seconds.

(these countdown things do go way slow)

Tiger Mama again

DW and I are also addicted! The evidence?

*We've got a shelf full of WDW guide books- LOVE the Passporter, really like the Unofficial Guide (or as we like to call it, "the food snobs"), and really enjoy a book we don't see referred to a lot on these boards- Walt Disney World for Couples. GREAT info on all the resorts.

*We've taped and repeatedly watched the WDW/Orlando shows on the Travel Channel. DW is worried that I want to run away with Samantha Brown, but I keep telling her- I just want to see the resorts and parks!!

*We're on these boards at least every other day.

*We've named our kids Mickey and Goofy. (Okay, I made this one up)

Is there somewhere to go to end this addiction? If so, keep us away! We love it!!! To paraphrase, "A visit to the DIS is a wish your heart makes!"

Does anyone know where I can score some pixie dust? After we bought into DVC, I thought it would calm down a bit as we would be going more often. The truth is it has gotten worse. I keep reading all the guidebooks hoping I'll find some new information.Thankfully my DW supports my addiction and joins in to a lesser degree. DiznynutDave, you made me laugh out loud with that Samantha Brown comment. My DW calls her my girlfriend. I don't know what I would do without all of my fellow addicts here to satiate my need for WDW info.;)

When I was 15 my parents tried to push the Disney stuff on me with a trip to the Poly which included my grandparents....I wasn't having any of it! I went, but couldn't thoroughly enjoy it....It was like your Dad handing you your first beer, what fun is THAT?

About 10 or 11 years later DBF said "Let's do it together" and I took my first real hit. The next year we were dreaming of how good the high was the previous year, so I said "Book us another one" And he did. We started out only doing a week at a time, but detox was unbearable, so we began getting more by staying 10 days...before we knew it our vacations were up to two weeks!

It's a habit that has and will cost us tens of thousands of dollars, but when we are in the middle of it there is nothing better, and when we're in between we can't wait for the next fix.

I can take the first step and admit that I have given my life over to the power of Disney, but I am helpless to stop it.

DBF knew I had it bad a few months ago. I had been reading these boards and reading lots of posts from others who said they wanted to go back to Disney but their spouses said No until they went somewhere else. DBF asked me as he occasionally will...."Why do you love me?" and I said "Because You NEVER say NO to Disney!" He's still scratching his head on that one!

I guess we are all in the same boat. I read everything I can get my hands on and I am finding new boards everyday (including these):D My husband laughs at me all the time because I was planning our June trip in Nov. This includes the parks we will go into each day and what restaurants we are going to. He doesn't seem to understand that I have to know this to make all those lovely ressies he wants.:jester:

The disease is truly terrible (for those who don't understand!:p ).

I am addicted, and I love it. My DH is fairly tolerant, but did surprise me when he agreed to think about buying into DVC. We haven't done it yet, but it looks promising!

It is good to know we are not alone...
