Disney 3x4 and 4X6 journaling cards *accepting requests*

I still have 2 outstanding requests. I am working on the Monsters Inc cards now and still have to do Toy Story. I may not finish till Tuesday since I'm slow and DH is off work today and tomorrow. I spent a long time on monsters inc but just wasn't happy with it. I have started working on some planning pages. I'll probably start a new thread to post them once I have a bunch. If I'm forgetting any requests please let me know.

Roni - if you need help with a Toy Story one let me know - my kids love that movie (all 3) and I have a rough draft going now :)

That would be awesome if you don't mind! I can try to work on one in the future but I keep getting stuck on the Monsters inc one. I think it's because it's one of my favorites and I have all these great monsters inc elements I bought and can't use for this. I am determined to come up with a couple really good Monsters Inc ones though. I've been really stressed too so it just isn't flowing. Thanks Michelle! Now I have to start working on some more for me. I'm no longer loving the early ones I made so I think the Pooh characters will be tackled next along with my planning pages.

Roni - creative people are always there own worst critics ;) Plus as you do more and more of course early work will be more rough. I just love the cards you are doing! I can't wait to include them in my album for our trip in December!

Also would you be able to do separate general journaling cards with Lilo & Stitch, Monsters Inc and Toy Story characters please?

Thank you so much for your help! :goodvibes

I did some Toy Story journal cards for you. If you need any specific characters let me know. I am also working on some that are vertical arrangements as well.

Tiggergalttfn: these are great! Thank you! Some vertical ones would be great! The standard Project Life protectors that most people use have a vertical 3x4 slot so that would be terrific. I will probably be making a Lotso one eventually as he is DH's favorite. Thanks for your encouragement!

Lotso would be great!!

Funny you say that as these started out as 4x6 as I have seen people using that size for PL. I know I am doing a PL type but pocket protecter pages I found are different then the ones sold by Becky Higgins. Anyone do PL or similar with different pocket protecter pages?

tiggergalttfn,cool Toy Story cards!

Iloveeliot, I agree with tiggergalttfn, we tend to judge our own work the harshest, I find it so hard to finish each card & say "yes, this is it", I keep tweaking them. I'm looking forward to seeing your planner pages!

Just added some AoA cards, I'm going to work through my own list of to-do cards, I'll link to them as I add them if they are relevant/useful/vaguely interesting :)

There's two for each area of Aoa... you can find them all on post#14 (page1) on the Completed Cards thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3072096 I've also added some cards for PO Riverside (with and without Tiana).

Sneak peek...

Please let me know if you need any changes to these. Just a reminder they were designed to be printed at 3x4. You are welcome to print them bigger but I can't guarantee the image quality. Please just let me know if you have any other requests.

I am working on the Monsters Inc cards next. They will be added to this post so please make sure to scroll up to find this post to check if they have been added. If you need any changes to any of these cards please just let me know in a NEW post. Hope you enjoy!

Thank you so very much for these! I really appreciate it and I am so excited about them! :goodvibes Thank you again!!

Thank you so much for your time and effort. I really appreciate it!. Thanks a lot the cards are lovely! :goodvibes

Your designs are great! I am in total awe of them. They are going to make such great journaling and digital scrapbook elements. I can not wait to use them.

I know I am in the minority here, but we go to DisneyLAND rather than WDW! Alot of the cards I have been able to use in both places, but there are a couple of unique things to DL that I was wondering if you would consider making at some point.

For example:
Disneyland
California Adventure
Carsland (or anything cars)
Goofy's Kitchen (like Chef Micky's)
Napa Rose Chef's Table
Matterhorn
World of Color

I started making some in photoshop after seeing your designs and they look ok, if I can find png graphics. I am totally lost if I can't find a png graphic. If you have any suggestions on places for me to look for tutorials, I would love to learn, so I can start sharing too! I know there have to be a few other DL fans besides me!

Chasingmarcus, I can make the ones you've mentioned for you, should have them ready by the end of the week-ish :) Disneyland & California Adventure are the only Disney Parks I haven't been to (yet!!)... we're keeping the original for last! ... Hopefully in a few years we'll get over there, I'd love to see them, especially now that they've added Carsland :wizard:

One of the other Disigners on this thread might know DL better than me and have more ideas but you can also feel free to suggest any other cards you'd like and we'll give them a go!

Image wise, I do a google image search for whatever I am looking for, my cards are 900x1200 px, so I only consider images that are above 300px wide, google image search tells you this before you go to the trouble of clicking in. Also you can change the search parameters in advanced to a medium or high image quality.

In photoshop... with gif cliparts, you just need to go Image->Mode-> and change from Indexed colour to RGB or CMYK, whichever you use. Then you can drag the image into your psd same as you would a png.

With jpegs, if you choose one with a uniform coloured background, you can use the magic eraser to delete the background. If you right-click on the eraser tool, it's there. You can change its sensitivity to change how much similar shades of colour it erases. You may have to do a bit of cleaning up afterwards to smooth edges out.

Lastly... if you enjoy the challenge, you can extract logos from random people's photos that you find online. It can often be the only way to get a good shot of a restaurant logo. So for this I restrict my search to high res images only, looking for ones that are crisp and about 2000-3000px wide, this usually allows you to do a nice clean extraction. But this can be a huge amount of work :)

Feel free to post your cards here, the more the merrier! We are also posting completed cards over on the other thread so that there is a nice easy-to-look-through chatter-free resource for people!

Keep an eye out for your cards over the next few days :thumbsup2

Welcome! So glad you are jumping in here and I'm thrilled you like the cards! I haven't had the easiest time finding high quality images myself. A few of the other more experienced designers had suggested doing searches in google images or Bing images. I usually change the settings of the search to large as the resolution on these images is better. if i really need an image and am having no luck i will use a lower res image. i was told to try not to make any image larger than it starts out especially if it is low res as this decreases the image quality. i do sometimes make them bigger but i try to keep an eye on the image quality. I have also been checking some of the clip art sites listed in the sticky in this thread. Pngs are easiest to work with however more and more I have been finidng good images that are other file types and erasing the background. If you weren't aware (because I wasn't) in Photoshop and Elements there is a background eraser tool. This makes it very easy to erase solid colored backgrounds from behind an image. Often non-pngs are on a white background and it is fast to remove the background. Feel free to PM me with any question but be aware I probably don't know much more than you as I'm really learning as I go!

I would be happy to work on a Cars/Carsland card in the next couple of days. I expect to do it tomorrow actually. It has been a rough couple of days for me so I don't want to take on too many at a time but in a few days I will definitely be back and take on more of your request list :) I really want to encourage you to keep trying to make your own cards. I'm happy to do these for you and PixieSprite an I have been filling requests for each other as it can be more fun to make for someone else and have them make for you. I do have total faith in you that you have the ability to make these! If you don't feel comfortable posting what you have made why not put them on Photobucket and PM me the links. I'd love to look at them and give you some feedback. Once you have more confidence maybe you will jump in and add them to our other thread. The more the better! This is sooo long. I'd better end it! Lol have a great day and seriously pm me!

Splendid! Chasingmarcus have a think about what Iloveeliot has said (such a great way with words!!), and let me know if you want to give some of them a go yourself or if you'd like me to work on a few for you. Let me know which ones :)

Iloveeliot... I completely forgot, I have one outstanding one to make for you... Chefs de France, I'll have it for you by tomorrow hopefully! Need to go logo hunting! You're right... It is much more fun designing for other people!!

I don't know that they started out as 4x6 and the Becky Higgins protectors come in many sizes. The most popular of hers is design A which has 4 4x6 horizontal slots and 4 3x4 vertical slots. The stores by me sell We R Memory Keepers protectors so I may end up with those. They come in all different configurations but I'm thinking I'll stick with the design A style for the most part in any brand. I think knowing I should try to take lots of horizontal photos in 4x6 will simplify things when putting together my book. Then I also know I need mainly vertical 3x4 journaling cards. I'll definitely mix in other protectors for holding ephemera such as park maps etc. I'll also add in other ones for my vertical pictures. Did you have another way you were planning to do it? I'd love to hear different suggestions!

Hi PixieSprit. If you could include Remy and/or Remy and Luigi on my card that would be awesom! I have some great images I can send you which I think I've already cleaned up. Running out the door now so I'll email them later! Thanks soooo much for making these!

Absolutely! Look forward to seeing them :) I have an idea for the card.... just got some inspiration!

Check this stickie at top of this forum... http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2430262

There is a lot of great sites for clip but I seen the others listed great suggestions for searching for high resolution files as well. Honestly finding clipart/images takes the longest sometimes :)

Would love to see you designs as well if you feel like sharing them.

Thank you guys for all of your encouragement! I am trying to get "templates" so far of what I think I want for our trip, so when I get home, I can just put my pictures in and call it a day.

We spend quite alot of time in Fantasyland, and my daughter loves both Alice rides, so I have been starting there.

Hopefully the link works, I am not the best at posting pictures. I look forward to making some more.

Thank you so much for the tip on changing a gif format picture. It worked!

(I apologize I don't know how to make the pictures smaller!)

That Cheshire Cat card is super cute! Great job. You should totally make more-and share! lol If you post your cards in photobucket it is easy for people to get them. In photobucket you can get a thumbnail image code which will allow you to post a thumbnail image of your card for easier browsing. You do have to set up the option to get the thumbnail code. I totally don't remember where the option is. I think Pixiesprite told me how to do it so maybe she can jump in here. Please post your cards in the other thread so we have one central, chat-free, request-free place where people can see everything we've made. Just try to post a thumbnail so it is easy to scroll through everything there. I'm glad the trick PixieSprite gave you for converting the images worked! Any other questions feel free to ask! Again, keep up the awesome work! Take care, Roni

Thank you so so much! i love all of them! Can't wait to see the monsters inc cards :cool1:

I am planning on making more of these but I didn't want to make you wait any longer. I just couldn't make a decision on this cards because I love Monsters Inc and couldn't find images for the things I wanted to do other than images I paid for and can't share with others. Frustrating! Keep your eye out for more Monsters Inc stuff. There are just so many I want to work on right now! Let me know if you need any changes made or if this is not what you had in mind. I have an idea for one more I might try my hand at right away if it doesn't take too much time. I'll post them in this thread and the other but probably won't quote you.

Pixiesprite and anyone looking at these cards: I'd love feedback on my shadow. This was my first try at a shadow on its own layer and distorted. I tried so hard to get it looking right. If anyone could PM me some constructive crticism that would be great! It was hard!
