Oh those photos of the tea are wonderful, but making me sad! We used to have something similar in my hometown.
There was a local lady who had a B & B in a gorgeous old Victorian home in our town. Every weekday afternoon she offered high tea from 3-5 PM. It was only about $15PP. She served biscuits (not cookies!) scones, and wonderful cake. It was great to visit and have conversation with friends.
But the kicker was after you were done she would come around to your table and read your tea leaves from your cup!
She was a witch and would do palm readings, fortunes, star charts, and was licensed to perform marriages, etc...
Now I know you're thinking this is a little kooky, and it really wasn't. She wasn't all tacky psychic like out on the highway with the neon billboard. It was a gorgeous parlor with old fashioned pink cabbage rose wallpaper. She had several dozen sets of old tea pots, cups, warmers and cozies. Lots of antiques...
And her readings were very spot on. We visited her once or twice a year, and she was always very on the money with me, my mom, and our friends that went with us. She was very spiritual and lovely.
She passed away a few years ago. I miss going...
