We don't have any plans either other than what we've got planned at the Fort. @bama_ed , I'm 100% in for put put. If we go before 4P, I get in "free" with our annual pass sports option.

If it's warm enough, I plan on visiting Blizzard Beach as we've not been there yet.

We're bringing our dogs this time, for the first time, so we don't plan on being away much. To be honest, as crazy busy as my year has been, I need some time to "just be."

I'm trying to keep post 1 updated with site numbers as folks post them. If you post yours, please tag my username in it if you can so I can find them quicker.

DW has been busy making Jungle Cruise decorations for our site for the festivities, so I hope everyone enjoys them.

Waiting patiently at my hotel in downtown Cleveland this morning to fly home this afternoon and get this travel party started tomorrow morning! (I'm typing this because I am actually having a hard time being patient at hotel to go...lol... gonna hit the gym in a few minutes to help and will watch show on iPad to escape to another century for a bit - I watch the 4 Star Trek series Next Generation, Deep Space 9, Voyager, and Enterprise in continuous loops as my workout TV )....

Depending on when we can shove off will determine the route. If I can drive overnight on Tuesday (preferred), it will be all interstate to Atlanta then south on I75 and the Turnpike. Little traffic on a Tuesday evening going thru the city (Hotlanta) and although a little out of the way (adds 20 minutes to estimated drive time), I would expect to keep rolling with few stops during the night.
Can't wait to see ya next week! Atlanta traffic on the connector has been a bear the last couple of weeks. Let's just say we have a lot of important people coming everyday and it's making a mess out of traffic - and rush hour is when all of them like to be here.

@4077 Curious, has anyone ever gotten on the plane and request "Home James?" I am sure killing time is the worse part of this when you would rather be home packing for the trip south!!

Hah... no one ever has, but I expect you to if you are ever there! 😁

Yah.. I feel a bit unprepared having to come back at last minute before leaving, but I am by myself mostly, so my "needs" are much less than a family trip and the reality is Wally World, Target, and everything else I might need are right there by "home"....

The deer are now on my site this morning. Three of them!

Peach, I think you should look at the situation in another way.

YOU'RE on THEIR site.

They get to live there all the time (with my friends the turkeys) and we only get to visit. <sad sigh>.

Between the squirrels, the deer, the buzzards, and the turkeys, their Neighborhood Association meetings must be a riot to watch.

So I've got the trailer ready, the camping gear in the back of the Yukon, the bikes strapped on the the front hitch, and have yet to throw in personal gear and groceries/food/cooler that we're bringing with us for the first few days. We have to wait tonight to get word when our relief is back in town before DW will leave.

What do ya'll think about the following?

We've had this Planning thread that @Bishoparc started for the 2024 DISMeet on the Community Board for 28 months. That's a long time and a lot of posts in the current 41 pages.

Would it be okay to start a trip report-type thread on the Main Camping board on the official start date of the DISMeet, November 3? Or maybe start it November 1? I think the group interplay and pictures would reach a wider audience there with casual board visitors than it would if we kept the engine running here on the Community Board in this thread. It can either be a "November" trip report in order to encourage people there later in the month to contribute to it or it could be a specific DISMeet TR. I am fine with either approach.

Obviously, @Bishoparc should have the honor of creating/starting a new post on the main Camping Board. But what are ya'lls opinions/thoughts? Some folks are staying for 2 weeks or more in November and I'd like to see Thanksgiving related pics and stories after I get back home.

Ed I am 100% on Getting a November trip report going on the 1st. And plan to share there, thoug I expect this thread will be the goto for DisMeet specific topics.

Great minds think alike. I had thought about asking that same thing but had seen pictures already posted in here so wasn't sure. I'll get it created and copy the post 1 info over so we have that for tracking and will keep post 1 in the new thread updated.

Please begin posting any trip report type posts to the new thread on the main forum.

I got a call this afternoon from DVC and signed up for a cabin tour on Saturday Nov 2 at 11am. The lady said any of our group can come with us but "all decision makers" in a party (not just one side of a couple) must attend and stay for the full 30 minute cabin tour and discussion - bring photo id.

Each person receives a $100 gift Disney gift card (up to 2 per party) or $200 total per party (DW and I are one party for example). There are some reasonable limitations like you can't cash the card out, it expires around Christmas time, etc.

The meet is at the DVC hut/stand across from HDDR and I guess we tour one of the sample cabins in 100 loop nearby.

Whoever is there on Nov 2 is welcome to join us. If Nov 2 is not convenient, I bet you could set up a time that would fit your schedule.

This is awesome!

Alternatively, I’m staying in one of the new cabins if anyone wants to see one, we can arrange that as long as you don’t mind a sweet cavapoo saying hi to you. I arrive on the 3rd and leave early on the 9th!

We left yesterday from home and overnighted in a rest stop in Maine, had a surprisingly good sleep. Got on the road at about 5:30 am. All was going well until we hit the New Hampshire state border when we started hearing funny engine noises and the alarms started going off. Presently the large tow truck is just arriving to tow us to a repair shop. We will keep everyone informed as we work this through.

Thanks everyone. We are currently carrying on with our tow vehicle towards Florida. It will be Friday before the shop can look at our RV. Our plan is to stay at an Airbnb with our daughter. Although we will not be staying at the Fort we will still come to the meet and greet and the HDDR. Tom and I are grateful that we are both safe and healthy and even though our plans may be slightly changed we will still be able to attend the Dismeet. Let’s hope the rest of the trip is less stressful.
