Like the title says, our dishwasher died about a week ago. I've been washing dishes by hand, which isn't actually all that bad. I find it kind of relaxing. Anyway, I'm in the minority in my household and am on the hunt for a new dishwasher. Ours was a stainless LG and it lasted 7 years. Our new one needs to be stainless but I have no brand loyalty with regard to appliances. I don't want to spend a fortune and just want a reliable machine that does what it advertises.

Any input is welcome. :thanks:

I used to work on appliances.....

Had lots of problems with the circuit boards on whirlpools for awhile (moisture getting into them). Don't know if they've resolved it on the newer ones or not.

Thank you. I'll keep that in mind.

I really would rather wash dishes by hand than research dishwashers.

I got a Kenmore last year and it's the best dishwasher I've ever owned. It has a steel inside and although I have a black one I'm sure it comes in stainless steel. It's an ultra wash. I don't remember the exact price but it wasn't the most expensive they had nor the cheapest. I usually hate my dishwasher because it doesn't clean well, but this one is amazing, I'm really happy with it.

I just bought a new Bosch dishwasher last week. I love it. Very quiet to run and has the stainless steel inside. I had a Frigidaire previously and had nothing but problems with it. We didn't buy the top of the line Bosch but are satisfied with our choice. I believe we paid about $675 at Lowes.

Too funny! I only use my dishwasher about once a month, and that is just to keep the lines clean!

For the past year or so I have been hand washing my dishes. I also find it relaxing. Pheewww. I'm not the only one!:lmao:

Back to dishwashers. Bought a Bosch about 6 years ago. I love it, when I use it!

I have a Whirlpool with a stainless tub that is super-quiet and works really well.

The plastic parts are a problem: the top-rack wheel assembly broke and a piece got into the motor, burning it out a month later. Fortunately, everything was under mfg/extended warranty - $600 in parts alone, replaced for free.

That's me!!! DH keeps telling me it's cheaper to use the dishwasher. That said we have a cheaper version (not ss) Kenmore that is original to our house (12 years old) of course for the last 4 years since we've owned the house it is only used once a week or less.

You guys are actually talking me out of buying one.

Thanks for the advice and experiences. I'm going to look tomorrow and see if there are any outstanding Labor Day sales. I just really dislike shopping for stuff like this. The research and stuff outs me to sleep.

My Whirlpool is still going strong and it was installed in 1987!!!! I love the doggone thing. The dishes come out clean and so does the silverware.

:thumbsup2 That's great to know. I don't want to be buying one every 7 years. I don't know a trustworthy appliance man or I'd call one.

We have a Whirlpool...so far so good *knock on wood* It is only 6 months old or so. It replaced an ancient one that was in the house when we bought the house.

My dishwasher gets a real workout, like yesterday I ran it twice...after dinner tonight it will be ready to go again.

After reading reviews and doing research I bought a Bosch. Stainless steel - ver quiet, cleans great. But it is smaller inside than my older one.
