Do you like one better then other? Why?

We've had both, and we prefer Directv because we think has a better pay-per-view. When you select a movie, it has more starting times (3 or 4 different ones) than Dish Network did (usually only 1 or 2).

We too like DirectTV much better. My sister and her DH have the Dish Network and are constantly having problems with either no signal on certain channels to other channels coming and going at will.
Direct TV has been great for us!!

I've only had cable and then Directv since '95!

I love Directv! I pay $115/mo for 5 boxes (one Tivo), every channel imaginable (about 500, sans any adult or X rated channels.

We lose Directv about 2 times a year. We used to lose cable about 2 times a month.

Great service, too.

We have Dishnetwork and like it but cannot compare it to DirectTv since I've never had that. Definately better than cable.

We had Direct tv and just switched to Dish. I like Dish better because the dvr can be accessed by two tv's that are hooked to the same box. If I record a show in the living room, I can access it and watch it in the bedroom. You cannot do that with direct tv. I think the service seems to be about the same.

We had this same problem and it turned out our reciever was bad.

Could you go into more detail about that? I thought all Series 2 Tivos can share programming from box to box...

The choice in sports programming is what made the difference for me. I chose DirecTV because Dish Network did not offer the YES Network (Yankees Entertainment and Sports). I see that you're from Maine. If it's important that you get NESN, double check that both satellite services offer the channel. I know NESN is on DirecTV.

That is really bizarre because we have had the exact opposite experience! We had Direct Tv and it went out all the time. For HOURS at a time. If it snowed--like at all, we are not talking a blizzard here--if it was raining, if it was windy, blah blah blah. We had them come look at it, we called. EVerything was supposedly fine, we just lost our signal due to....insert random excuse here.....With Dish, we pay way less a month and now have DVR which we didn't with Direct and we never lose our signal except maybe 5 min here or there during a storm.

Huge improvement. We love it!

Never had Dish, but DitecTV comes in a bundle with our phone company (e get a discount for DTv). May be worth investigating as both are similar. Do not regret droping cable at all!!!!

We went from cable to DirectTV and love it!

We had them both. I love Dish Network. Lost signal 2 times in severe thunderstorms for about 10 min.

Directv we would loose signal if a cloud passed in front of the sun.

A lot of Dish network's channels in the basic setup are Christian channels. As a non-Christian, I would have been paying for stuff I'd never watch. When we decide to get something beyond rabbit ears for the TV, it will be DirectTV.

We have DirectTV....but the reason we picked that is becasue my husband wanted to get the NFL package, and it is only offered through DirectTV.

We had Comcast/Storer Cable/At&t cable for years, finally switched to THE DISH! ;)

We have had Dish Network for nearly 5 years and absolutely love it. We lose our signal very rarely and their customer service is excellent.

We just upgraded to a DVR receiver and it's fantastic.

And, FYI, NESN is also part of Dish Network...Channel 434...Go Red Sox! :cheer2:
