Jean Charles de Menezes was shot dead by members of the Metropolitan Police's elite CO19 firearms team on the twenty-second of July, 2005 in the heart of London.
They said: he vaulted the barriers
Reality: he bought a ticket and a newspaper and passed through the barriers
They said: he was wearing a padded jacket
Reality: he was wearing a light denim jacket
They said: he failed to stop to hails
What happened: there were no hails
They said: he ran
Reality: he walked
They said: minimum force
Reality: restrained and shot multiple times at point blank range in the head
I am watching the Panorama investigation into the fatal shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes and I am ashamed. The man came to England saying that the police were "civilised" and did not carry guns. He was restrained, hands behind his back and was shot "executioner style" in the head seven times and once in the shoulder in front of a horrified audience on a tube train.
He was an innocent. He was restrained. He was no threat. He was killed. He was murdered. How anyone could construe that he was a suicide bomber is beyond the nation.

Never again in the name of a "war" on terrorism. Rest in peace.
