I reckon since I asked the original question....I'll do it. I really don't mind. Does Montgomery sound good for everyone. We can plan on sometime in Jan or Feb. What would y'all like to do. Saturday sounds good to me. We could make an afternoon and/or evening of it. Let me hear some ideas from you guys. After the holidays we'll get serious about it.

Oh we can definatly plan on it especially with that much time to plan. I have no idea what there is to do in Montgomery......I've only driven through....I'm going to map the distance for me! I'm going to guess its about a 6 hour drive. Mapquest is usually way off and it says 8 hours so I'm guessing 6.....whats there to do ?

Eastdale Mall on the east side of the city would probably be a good place. The Shakespeare Festival would be nice, but a greater selection of food and facilities could be found at the mall. It is located just off of Hwy 231 N. which we call the eastern bypass, and about a mile north of I-85. Not too hard to find for out of towners.
If anyone else has any ideas hop in there with them, too.

I'm trying to remember the restaurants there. I know there's an Applebees. There's a Red Lobster near the mall. On the Eastern Bypass, there are plenty of places: Macaroni Grill, Olive Garden, Shogun, Outback. That's all I can remember for the moment. I really don't have a preference for the location.....or activity for that matter.

I just checked the ASF schedule. Beauty & the Beast opens there on January 17th. It will be running on the weekends into February.....sometimes with afternoon showtimes.

Anyway.....those are some ideas.....

I hadn't seen that Beauty and the Beast were playing there. How cool! I reckon I need to check the website out. There is also a Ruby Tuesdays back up Atlanta Hwy now, and a new Burlington Coat Factory next door to it. Gotta visit there soon too. I'll check and see if the ticket prices are listed for B&B yet.

If it is after January 11, Oddball and I will not get to be there on a Saturday afternoon. You see, my DH and I do income tax fast refunds and we start this on January 10. We probably could still make it on the 11th, but I know after that DH would have a "coniption fit"(anyone know what that is????) if I asked off. Maybe if we could not be there in person, someone could call us---PLEASE!!!!!!!!

Just let us know what you decide!!!!!

I haven't been to Montgomery Mall in a while but the last time I was there The Disney Store was still open.

Hows this sound? We could plan a Saturday in late January or early February and meet Saturday afternoon at the Montgomery Mall. Visit the Disney Store (if its still around). Plan an early supper somewhere nearby and go see Beauty and The Beast.

I'll call and find out about group rates and get back with you guys next week.

Beauty and the Beast Saturday performances are at 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
The tickets ar 15.00 each.
Groups of 10 - 19 - $13.50 each
Groups of 20+ - $12.00 each

If we can confirm a date real soon and get a tentative number of tickets. I can reserve them so that we can get excellent seats which by the way are still available. Let me know.

I hadn't looked in a while, but doesn't/didn't Eastdale Mall have a Disney Store too?
Also, we'd take four tickets to B&B,but we don't know what my daughter's surgery schedule will be this winter yet. If the docs decide to do some dental work first, she'll have it during the summer, but if they decide to wait on the dental work, she'll probably have the surgery late January or sometime February. I did notice that the dates for B&B extended at least through March. That may be an idea too for many.
Anyone else with ideas?

When we get the date ironed down I can let you all know for sure about us. It will possibly just be John and I....but maybe John-Cole and my mother as well. We are open right now anytime after the first of the year.

I prefer Eastdale, but I don't think there is a Disney Store there.

I do know that the weekend of February 2nd is out for me. That's all that's on my calendar right now.

Ok everyone....
I got a most gracious pm today from alabamaalan who has offered to help me with this meet.
Seems we are just about neighbors. Unless anyone has anymore suggestions here's what I've come up with.

We can meet late Jan/or anytime in February on a Saturday in Montgomery. We can either go to the 2 pm performance of Beauty and The Beast at the ASF or the 8 pm performance.

If we went to the 2 pm performance, then we wouldn't be rushed afterward and could go somewhere and have dinner and chat.

By the way, the ASF performance of Beauty and the Beast is NOT the Disney version. It is from the original fairy tale story. Here are the details so far that I have from ASF

Well I did find out yesterday that the docs won't be doing any dental work on our daughter before her surgery, so it'll probably be in late January or through February. So, I reckon we'll have to wait a few weeks before we know much of anything about dates. We'll just have to wait to decide what date everyone else prefers and hope that the surgery isnt' then.
