DISers in Oregon???

I'm a native Portlander. We currently reside in the Irvington neighborhood of inner NE Portland.

I don't think I could live anywhere else!

We have been wanting to ride the train. I will have to look into that. Did you rent a car when you got there :confused3

No-- husband drove up after work, we just wanted a jump start--and it was fun ;-) You really don't need a car though to get around Portland- the MAX and streetcar get us everywhere really. We actually walked to Powells from the train- it's only a few blocks, and then took the streetcar to our hotel. Couldn't find any books at Powells on Disneyland, but got The Vegetable Bible for $5.

hey splash5 we r in kelso howdy neighbor!!! you'll know its me when you see my green minivan with its pirate atenna topper and goofy and capt'n hook on the dashboard lol:rotfl:

Love Edgefield. :goodvibes We were going to be married there, but then had to rearrange everything (along with couples counseling and a year postponement of the wedding), and in that span of time they became much more of a wedding factory, and I didn't like that. LOVED CPR's outside area, so had an outside wedding there. PITA for our guests, but I figured if my far-flung family had to travel, so did hubby's WA-based family. :rotfl:

OK that was random. :) I love Edgefield, though.

Just today I looked at Lloyd Center's website, and saw a big huge ad for it.

50sjayne, you've got to try out some of the B&Bs! Kennedy School is crazy, like 100 bucks, but then, they are SMALL, their rooms are LARGE, and they have bathrooms in the guest rooms. At the other properties, it's European style with bathrooms down the hall, and their rooms are less expensive (unless you go to Bend).

They even have one in Centralia, and the train station is pretty much across the street, so it's mega-convenient to take a train trip there to watch a movie, snag a Ruby Ale, and even stay the night. The rooms there and at Grand Lodge start at about $50, which is about what you paid priceline (though you don't get as much as you did!). Grand Lodge has a soaking pool which is lovely, and I think Edgefield does too now for their spa customers.

I could go on and on, I just love the properties and hope to someday thank the brothers for what they created. We live right next to a great old property that is really rundown (used to be an Elks lodge), and it would be PERFECT for a McMenamins. I've heard they have looked at it, but it hasn't worked. Fingers crossed.

I'm so sorry, I always, on any forum, come running into OR threads, b/c I love OR so much. :goodvibes

That's alright I am always running on about Seattle it seems....that sounds like a good place for New Years Eve (Grand Lodge) Very reasonable ;-)

I am seeing a trip to Portland in my future :rotfl2: You guys are spending money for me ,my DH will be thrilled. :lmao:

We have actually done the NYE package at Grand Lodge! It was so wonderful. :goodvibes Of course, it's 21 and over, no kids allowed, so until DS is older and until we can find someone trustworthy (grandparents are disallowed under that rule, sigh) who has no NYE plans themselves, we're in for a long stint without NYE at McMenamins!

Hotel Oregon in McMinnville is also great (we spent a NYE there, too), and the countryside is so lovely to drive through (though we do tend to get lost).

Did you know that at Lloyd center, up where the old Disney store was there is a Disney outlet currently. We took the max down 2 weeks ago and bought some good disney resort items. It is so fun to sale shop.

So yesterday DH said he needed to deliver something to one of his friends Sunday in Portland. I quickly said you do? Can we also go to Lloyd Center? He knows that I am always thinking about shopping so he was hesitate to know what I was going to say. He said why? so I told him what was there and he said yes I guess we can. So :hyper: we got to go to the Character outlet I didn't find much to buy but it was fun to look at everything :goodvibes My DD11 got 6 of the Hanted Mansion figureins so she was happy.

I  ed the new Pirates store. What a great store. The owner was there when we were there and he let us see the party room. Yesterday was the first time they have had a party there. It looks like so much fun. :thumbsup2 I wish we lived closer I would have one of the girls parties there.

read the first page or two and was bummed cause they where are up north then saw a few in eugene/springfield/veneta. moved to eugene 2 years ago and love it.

I'm nestled in the foothills of the Cascades. I really want to make it to Portland to the outlet store there though. I spent quite a bit last time, I wonder if the husband remembers:lmao:
