Diseny Dollars......and change...

Quick question......

If I used a Disney $20 bill at the parks......and I get change back..
will they give me my change back in Dis dollars or "regular" money?

Where can you get $20 Disney bills? The highest my Disney Stores have is $10. I would prefer higher denominations.

Deleted post due to a incorrect statement. Disney Dollars do not come in $20 increments. I was mistaken.

so if i got that right you would get regular change back? last year i went to universal studios and was going to get my kids the universal dollars for spending, but someone had said that if something costs $12.30 and you gave them $13.00 or even $15.00 they couldnt give you change back.
I thought it would be nice to put disney dollars in their easter baskets this year but i didnt want to if they didnt get change back.
i hope someone can clear this up.

As far as I know (from working foods at the parks and working at the Disney Store, and visiting the parks) there is no such thing as a $20 disney dollar. The only thing that the Disney Store had is $1, $5, and $10

I also did a search on the internet and found a site that showed the diffrent bills in the past (since they change every year) and they do not have one listed over $10

If you buy, for example, a $12 item with $15 worth of Disney dollars, you will get change back in regular money, unless you specifically request change in Disney Dollars. In which case, you'll get Disney dollars back for the paper money and regular coins for any change.

Does that clear it up?

Disney Dollars only come in three denominations: One Dollar (Mickey Mouse), five dollars (Goofy) and ten dollars (Donald Duck).

The characters are not always the same on those denominations! It will depend on what year they were issued.
I have never seen a $20.00--do they really exist?

With Disney dollars you will get change--they are dollar for dollar. If you purchase something witha 10 you will get regualr dollars and change back unless you specifically request the bills as disney dollars.

I would check again on that Universal bucks thing as well. They should be able to give you change for them since they are also dollar for dollar.

Yup, it depends on the year. I just bought my nephew some for his trip and didn't get any 10s b/c they had Tink on them; they were left over from the 100 years of magic issue of Disney Dollars. Mickey was on the ones and Goofy on the 5s. I called 2 Disney Stores today and they said 20s don't exist.

I had read that about Universal dollars and couldn't believe they would do that. Now that you have confirmed it - no Universal $s for us!

We always give our son DDs before a trip so that he has money to buy his own snacks, etc. Somehow they seem more fun (and less like spending money) than "real" money. You will always get change back if you are due change!

Where do you get Universal bucks? I would love to put some in my kids Easter baskets. I figure if gave them each $10 I won't have to worry about the change being regular money or not, as I am sure that I will have to ADD regular money to the total of whatever they want! LOL!

I am terribly sorry, I said that they could order $20. I looked at what we have and those are $10 increments. My sincerest apologies to anyone I misled.

I am changing my post above to correct my mistake.


Also, just a side note the $10 Disney dollars we have, have Tinkerbelle on the front. They are 100 Years of Magic dollars. There are more characters on the back. We would have 'purchased' the Tinkerbelle ones in the last month. Those would be the increment the store was out of.

Yes it is true only 1, 5, and 10's. But something has changed. We had some of the 10's for our trip in April and they did have Donald, but I went to get some more and now they have Minnie on the 10's and it is more colorful on the back.

Yes, you can get Disney Dollars at any Disney Store. You pay face value (no tax or fees). I am not sure about getting them online.
