Disembarking questions

Hi all-
We are a group of seven (two cabins, with 5 adults and 2 little ones)
I was wondering if we all needed to get off the boat together on the last day (like going through customs) or if it could be done in 'shifts.' Since we are renting a car, I was thinking of sending DH off early in order to grab the car and then bring the little ones (and grandma) with me an hour or so later.
Does this work?

You may want to check with customs. There is one declaration from per family and it is collected as you leave the terminal.

I do not re-call it taking an hour to get out and getting a rental car, but someone else may correct me.
