In July we will be staying at the WL for 5 nights and then going on the Wonder for the three night cruise after that. Our flight leaves on Sunday at 11:40am (we will be flying home on US Air). I have not made any decisions about transportation yet. I am hoping some of you can tell me what to expect at disembarkation on Sunday morning. Typically how long does it take? Am I going to be "pushing it " to get to the airport for this flight time? If yes, then does anyone have any suggestions that would help me get off the ship any faster? Also, what would be my best bet for transportation to get back to the airport in a timely fashion? THanks for the advice.

:) Usually everyone has to be off the ship for 9:00 am. If there is "any" sort of event out of the ordinary, there will be a delay. It could be weather, customs, etc. Disney normally tells you to book nothing before noon. In our experience, perhaps we were lucky, we had on two occasions 11:30 flights booked, and were checked in waiting at the gate with more than enough time to spare.

We did use a town car service on both occasions though, and were ready to disembark immediately. We ate at the airport after we had successfully checked in.

Hope that helped..

You should definitely check into Happy Limo. We used them last time and we were at the airport in no time since we didn't have to wait for anyone else. Besides, depending on the size of your party, it may be cheaper to use a towncar than the buy DCL transfers.

Yep - DW and I did the same thing. Just use a private limo service. Personally I recommend Tiffany Towncar but thats just me. They'll take you right to the airport with lots of time to spare.

But what time exactly do we tell the driver to pick us up? We have first breakfast seating, should we say 8:00 am?

An 8 am pickup would be fine....assuming everything goes according to plan.
Disney recommends taking flights after 12:30 pm. I suspect they do that because after 7 years of running the cruise line, they know what the worst case senereos are.
On our cruise, we couldn't get off the ship until 9:15, and got to the airport on the Disney bus by 10:15. However, there was a 90 minute wait to clear security at Orlando airport. So we got to our gate just 35 minutes before our 12:35 flight. A lot closer than I care for.

So a later flight would be safer.

I agree. If I weren't driving myself to MCO to catch that flight, I'd look into a town car service. We used Happy Limo once and were satisfied. We had an early flight and made it there with them in plenty of time.

I also think that if you get off the ship as early as they allow, you can also get yourself over to a rental car place if money is an issue and make it to the airport on time.

You should also be able to check into USAir at Port before you even make your way to MCO.

I called USAir and asked the rep who took my call if USAir was at the port. She said no. Too bad. I can see how that would have been a huge timesaver.
