I'm considering upgrading from a Resort Magic to a Discovery Magic Package. We've never had a package before and I'm wondering if this one would be worth it.

We easily spend $100 a night on dinner. This package would only cost me $400 more to upgrade to for the 5 days were there. I would solely use the meal benefits of this package. Since we're only two adults (no kids yet) my DH prefers sit down restaurants as opposed to counter service.

Has anyone found great savings by using this package?

I've never really planned our meals before. I mean, I've arranged PS, but you could always cancel them if your not hungry. I never really kept track of how much we spent per day for breakfast and/or lunch.

Need help!! Thanks

You can definitely make it work to your advantage. We travelled as 3 adults last year and ate the best meals at the best restaurants. We also saw Cirque du Soliel with our wishes. I would definitely recommend giving Cirque a try. I know that they have made some recent adjustments for the Discovery Magic Plan. Some of the higher end restaurants now cost 2 wishes per person.

To help with your decision, you should know the Magical Wishes average $33 per wish. It might also help to know that alcoholic beverages are NOT covered by the Magical Wishes. If that $100 tab does not include alcoholic drinks, then it sounds like this package may be worth it for you.

We used DM for our last two trips and loved it both times. We are planning to use the package again. When we broke down the cost of the trip we figured the wishes were worth 26/wish. I won't go into all the boring details here but we REALLY enjoyed using the package and definetely got our money's worth. (We are a military family and could have used the military discounts but even when we figured in the discounted rates through SOG overflow, tickets, and meals the package was still a good deal) If you have any questions about the package let me know. (The wishes don't include alcoholic beverages but dinner includes (for each person) an appetizer, soup/salad, entree, and dessert plus beverage and coffee or tea with dessert. Lunch is the same only you choose between soup/salad/appetizer.) My suggestion is to go to wdwig.com and look at the menus of the restaurants you plan to eat at. Add up what your fmaily might order and see if you are spending over 26/person.

I know some restaurants are excluded, but can you eat anything in the restaurants that are on the 1 wish list. For instances, my DH would like the surf & turf dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse's that's $49.99. Would that be included? If so, then it's worth it!

I was planning on going to Cirque de solie again, since it's in the package. Plus, we'd like to go to the luau (in the package!) and take the World Showcase tour.

We just did all the calculations, and it's totally worth it!

Thanks for your help!

These are the restaurants that require two wishes- Yachtsman STeakhouse, Narcoosee's, Citrico's, FUlton's, Coral Reef, and Bistro de Paris. You can order anything you want off the menus- My husband ate steak and lobster for seven consecutive days... UGH! We both waddled home. (The tips is included- so our waiters would recommend ordering the most expensive dinner- bigger tip- at Alfredo's in Epcot because we used the package they sent us home with two huge bottles of water and they wrapped up one of the appetizer samplers for us- because we ordered one sampler and we still could have ordered another appetizer.) Cirque also requires two wishes but at 90/ticket it is still worth it.

yachtsman steakhouse is not on the current list requiring 2 wishes. All the other restaurants you mentioned are. I wonder if this is a mistake?

Magical Wishes:
Choose from the following list of Magical Wishes Features (two per person, per night). (Example: a three-night stay offers you a choice of six selections per person, redeemable whenever you like during your stay):

NOTE: Options noted below with a "(2)" count as two Magical Wishes selections.
Dining:

Disney Character breakfast or traditional Resort breakfast
Table service and counter service lunch or dinner (available at over 150 participating Walt Disney World® restaurants)
Disney Dinner Shows
Selected signature table service restaurants (2): California Grill, Fulton's Crab House, the Flying Fish Café, Bistro de Paris, Citricos, Coral Reef Restaurant, Narcoossee's and Yachtsman Steakhouse

I just copied the dining, but this comes from the disney website, under packages! Ren

If you can afford it, do it. We did for our honeymoon and I wish we could do it now. We used two flex features per day to eat. Our first night there we ate a dinner totally 240.00 with no alcohol, and then saw Cirque FRONT ROW for 99.00 a ticket. If you eat at the most expensive places, and see THE BEST shows, you will definitly getting your entire monies worth and more.
