What ever became of discovery island? We went in '98 and it was one of those nice little out of the mainstream attractions, but the last two years that we went it just hit me that it wasn't operating anymore. I will never forget this place as the last time we were there a very beautiful and rare bird... poo-poo'd on my shoulder. :rotfl2:

If it's poo poo you're looking for head over to the new noodle station in MK. My wife's backpack got nailed there. :rotfl2:

I miss the old Discovery Island too. We used to go there and it was nice because hardly anyone else was there. Very relaxing. But I love AK too!

Discovery Island turned into an events only rental place. So I believe they still do business events there. We used to love it too, but I think because it wasn't so popular they found a more profitable use for that tiny island.

It looks awefully overgrown to be used as much of anything these days.

Discovery Island closed around the time DAK opened. Since there was a whole park devoted to animals and the environment, the side attraction was shut down. The section of DAK that houses the Tree of Life is called Discovery Island. A tribute maybe? Or just a good name.
