Discovery cove

Absolutely, without a doubt. It was one of the most fantastic days we've ever had. You can read about it in my trip report - Day 11, I think.

I think you'll get an overwhelming response from the 'yes' set! Haven't done it myself but it looks fantastic, and so much to do even for the non swimmers, am seriously thinking about it for next time even tho' we've swum with dolphins in other areas that have been a lot cheaper the whole trip hasn't looked as good as the DC package, I'd say if you can afford to do it you shouldn't miss it!

I would definitely recommend it. Its one of those days that is so special and memorable it is on a par with my wedding day/ birth of my children. :flower:

Is discovery cove worth the money?

It depends on the individual. If somebody said to me "Is watching Man Utd worth the money?", my answer would be a resounding NO, but then I absolutely hate Man Utd. If you asked the Man Utd supporters the same question, the answer (leaving out the Glazer scenario) would be a resounding YES.

If you love Dolphins, Rays, tropical birds etc. etc. and you have the money, then the answer to your question will most probably be YES. I for one, am going to Discovery Cove next April (the previous times I've been to Orlando I couldn't afford it), and I'll be getting the video as well (do they do a DVD now?).

I believe they do a DVD now - we have the video from our trip but DH has just converted it to DVD and we watch it loads. I would love to be able to do it again but fear that, for us, it probably was a 'once in a lifetime' thing.

Definitely an once in a lifetime experience. We had a fantastic time there. However, if it is your visit to Orlando I would just concentrate on the main parks and if you go another time and perhaps on a special occasion book to go to Discovery Cove.

You can buy the dvd of your dolphin experience and they do check it in front of you which I thought was a good idea. No getting home and discovering it doesn't work.

We have done discovery cove twice and loved every minute of it my DH booked it up last year as a surprise for my 40th birthday it was a perfect day i will remember for the rest of my life. Its expensive but being a dolphin lover well worth the money.

Absolutely :teeth:

Loved every minute of it, yes it is expensive but it’s a truly wonderful day and one you will never forget.

It would be a 'Yes' from me too. I was the only one in our party to do the Dolphin Swim but DH & DD still had a wonderful day!

Just to warn you though once won't be enough (we agreed that at the end of our day!)

Jo

Another thumbs up for DC. It is absolutely, positively, definately, worth the money. I promise it is not a day you will forget in a hurry. I know that it is a bit pricey and I had the same reservation before we booked it. But, after going last December, I would have paid double the money. The whole experience from beginning to end is unforgettable. You won't be dissappointed!

I liked it but not as much as the other people on this thread. I much prefer all the other parks in Orlando than this one. My daughter was scared of the dolphins so did not get that much out of it. DH loved it but it was my surprise anniversary present for him so he didn't have to pay!!! I believe you can get an admission to seaworld with the ticket so you may need to figure that into your calculation. I could be wrong as it was few years ago that we went.

I am sure you know but there are no rides in this park. Hope you make the right decision for you.

My friend did it two weeks ago with her family and said it was totally amazing. She bought the dvd and said her photos were lovely. She highly recommended it. :)

If anyone wants to do DC consider a Sea World Annual pass. We have Gold passes which give us 2 years admission to SW with lots of discounts and free parking, cost was about $140 each. I have just booked DC for next month and with our pass they reduced the price from $259 to $169 each. Saving $90 +tax each. I think they would have given the same discount for Silver pass but not sure. I also think the discount varies for times of year.

A big YES!

We went to DC last may and really enjoyed the whole experience. Yes it looks a bit expensive but if you combine it with other parks it's not too dear.

We bought a ticket for DC, Seaworld & Busch Gardens and dividing the ticket cost by 3, it only worked out at just over £51 per park - which didn't seem too bad :flower:

We went in March and to be honest our visit was spoilt by the weather.

It was unusually cold and also our session was delayed by a long thunderstorm, when they close everything down.
My son was freezing when he came out of the water.
I would not recommend going during the colder (or less warmer) months of the year as you may need a little luck with the weather.

We're booked to go to Discovery Cove on 12th October. I can't wait.

Suzie,
Don't tire out the dolphins, we will be there on the 13th.

A nice day out but not worth the money, the Dolphin swim is too contrived and staged, it appeared to me to be geared up only to get more money out of you, is it necessary to be surrounded by a video and camera team?

YES!! Definately worth every penny. We booked it as a surprise for our daughter for her 10th Birthday. It was such a fantastic and magical experience. Its such a wonderful calm contrast to all the noise, hustle and bustle of the Disney parks. If your thinking about doing it then you should go. I promise you you will not regret it. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
