Hi, we are doing Discovery Cove. I just bought my tickets but now I am wondering how the dolphin swim works. Is it only at certain times during the day? My dh, ds 10 , ds 8 and I are doing the dolphin swim. But we have a dd 5 who can't do the swim. Has anyone had a similar situation and how did you make that work? Thx!!

They schedule you a swim time. I think you will have to split into two groups so somebody can stay with the 5 y/o.

You are assigned a swim time when you check in. Generally speaking, the earlier you check in, the earlier in the day your swim time will be. The swim is done in small groups of about 8 people, so your family will likely be paired up with another family of 4.

I have read that a DC employee will stand on the shore with the young non-swimmers while the rest of the family has their time with the dolphin, but I can't be 100% certain about that as our DS was a teenager both time we went. Hopefully someone else will chime with their personal feedback.

They are very accommodating, and I'm sure you could do it either way: splitting your group, or having a staff person hang with your daughter while she watches you. There seemed to be four groups of 8 in our dolphin cove at the same time, and the two middle groups were very near shore, so you wouldn't have to be far from her. I could talk with my husband who was just watching and taking pictures.

Ok thank you everyone!! I think we will request 2 swim times then so one of us can be with dd. I think that would work best for her and I can concentrate in my dolphin swim :)
