During our trip to WDW next year, my DS turns 9. He has wanted to swim with dolphins for ages, and I was thinking of booking Discovery Cove on his birthday as his birthday treat (both myself and DH want to swim with them too)!!.

However, my DD will only be 4 when we go so will not be able to do the swim. Is it still worth us going bearing in mind that she won't be able to do the swim?. We were going to split up with myself and DS doing the swim together and then DH doing it later.

We thought that we would make DD's special day CRT for breakfast and she can dress up, so she is not left out.

Or would we be better leaving Discovery Cove altogether until DD is able to do the swim too?

If three out of 4 of you want to go, I would go for it. However, it does depend on how confident your daughter is in the water because if she doesn't like being in it I think there is only the bird area she would enjoy. I don't know if she would wear the snorkel and mask for the coral reef and lazy creek areas. What you want is for it to be a family thing and for you all to be doing things together so if you can just envisage that it is only the dolphin swim you wouldn't be able to do all together it would be fine. You could save a packet on the photos by getting who ever is with your daughter to take video/photos of the swim.

Hi,

We have done the DC, 2 adults and DD who was 3 at the time. We spilt up, for the swim, what was good, at the end of my swim, DH & DD were asked to join me for a family photo, which was great, DD fed a fish to the dolphin.

DD enjoyed swimming with the fish and sting rays.

The only downside was the professional video which is being filmed when you are in the water with the dolphin. We had two taking due to being spilt up, but they could not join them together to make one video, so we had to pay for two. Expensive, and so are the photo's.

Food great, you even get suntan cream.

Hope this info helps

Our daughter was 4 when we went. She is very nervous of anything that moves, and wouldn't even contemplate going into any of the pools apart from the lazy river. I don't think it meant she didn't enjoy herself - she enjoyed watching us do everything, and playing on the beach. If it was just your daughter, I would probably say it wouldn't be good value for money, but if you are taking your son anyway, I would go for it, she will find plenty to do.
