discovery cove-what to bring ?

Does anyone have a list of what to bring to DC , we will be there in July , i read something about needing water shoes ?
also would like to knw what others brought or did not bring but wished that they did

We only brought our swimsuits and sun glasses, as well as our waterproof camera. We've never been in the heat of the summer, so we've also never used water shoes. They will provide fish safe sunscreen (they ask that you not use other sunscreen while there). They have plenty of towels, too.

Agree, we did not use water shoes either and as someone else stated they will provide sunscreen. We didn't need anything but at the end of the day there are showers (and they provide shampoo, conditioner etc) so you can shower and get back into your clothes your wore to get there or bring a change of clothes. So a hairdryer if you shower and want to dry your hair.

Now for my biggest suggestion with Discovery Cover.....get the private cabana if you can afford the extra 180.00 (or whatever it is now..it has been a year since we went) It is awesome and being you will be there in July...there is a hut for shade and it has a ceiling fan. You have your own private space with a table and 4 chairs plus 2 loungers. You have your own fully stocked fridge...so if you open a drink you can simply set it back in there and it won't get hot. You have your own locker. You also have unlimited drinks, a basket of unlimited chips, pretzels etc. There is a "person" assigned to your hut that will get you anything you need. It is awesome and relaxing and affords you some privacy. We got a hut by the sting ray pond and we were able to let the kids play in the sand and water and see them the entire time without getting off our private deck!!! And I can imagine that the ceiling fan in July would be awesome!!!!! Otherwise, you are not guaranteed a bunch of loungers for your family in the shade.

We went at the end of August. Did not need water shoes. Not a fan of them either. Just brought sunglasses, camera, and small purse. They give you as many towels as you want, the showers have decent enough soap/shampoo, sunscreen and all the food and drink, including alcohol, that you want. The breakfast and lunch was good. Snacks and drinks alll afternoon was good too. I like the alcoholic slushes they had in the little shack in the pathway to the reef.

It was a really relaxing day, and my DD still talks about the dolphin we met.

We have been twice....once on New Years Day, and once at the end of August.

For our August trip, we brought water shoes and were glad we did. The sand (and some of the pathways) can get very hot if you are blessed with a steamy, sunny day like we had.

A PP mentioned about bringing a hairdryer, but there is one (or maybe two?) in the ladies shower room. So that's not 100% necessary to bring along. I have long, thick hair and managed just fine with the hairdryer at DC. And surprisingly, no one else was waiting to use it as they dressed and left .

I would definitely bring a waterproof camera (even if its one of the disposable kind) or plan on purchasing one when you arrive at the park (I think they are about $14).

Bring hats. For a summer visit, you will want to avoid sunstroke.

Other than that, you won't need a thing besides your confirmation of purchase and some cash or a credit card (if you wish to purchase the photo package or some souvenirs in the gift shop). Arrive early, plan to spend the WHOLE day, and enjoy an amazing experience!
