This may seem crazy but if you purchase the swim with dolphins package, do you have to swim with them? DS7 wants to touch and interact but not go for a ride with the dolphin. I was wondering if it would be a problem to just tell the trainer that he wants to skip that part. Thanks.

Nope - won't be a problem. Most of the interaction is in shallow water. The tow is a tiny part of the experience. If he doesn't want to no big deal, just don't expect a discount. Now if he just doesn't want to go in deep water, there is a way to wade instead of swim out - a grandmother and little girl in our group did that.

Enjoy!

Thanks. That's good to know that he can wade out. He is afraid to swim out in the deep.

DH and I did the swim with the dolphins on our first visit to DC. When we went again taking our niece and nephew, we did the dophin swim right up to the point where we were to go to the deep water to have the dolphin pull us in. Instead, we let our niece and nephew each do the actual swim twice! They were thrilled. My favorite part is the interaction with the dolphin before the swim. I didn't mind missing the finale.
