Discovery Cove from Disney Resorts?

Hello

To swim with the dolphins has always been a dream of mine. We are headed back to the World Sept. 1-12 and I am seriously considering adding a day to DC for my family. It will break up the 10 disney days a little, and I will be able to do a swim with the dolphins like I have always dreamed.

My husband would do the normal day without the dolphin swim, and I think both my boys want to try the dolphin swim (they are 13 and 17).

I am curious as it says transportation is provided if you book an all inclusive day? Do they pick you up from a Disney resort?

If not, How would you suggest we get to Discovery Cove from Disney World, as we have no car and are relying on Disney transportation?
We will be staying at AKL resort.

Discovery Cove does not provide tranportation from Disney resorts; you'll need to get there on your own. It's about a 20-minute expressway drive from the AKL area. There's a way to take a city bus (with a transfer I think) but I've never done it. With 4 people, if you aren't renting a car, I'd take a cab. Enjoy

When we went there last September, we stayed at Pop Century. We did the trainer for the day program, which required us to get there really early - I can't remember exactly what time. We ended up taking a cab over from Pop Century because Mears Transportation did not pick up people that early. You can always call Mears to find out if there are any shuttle buses that will bring you over to DC, depending on what time you want to get there. You could also ask them for a quote on how much it would cost for the 4 of you. Then call a cab company and get a quote as well and see which of the two is cheaper. The thing about Mears though is that the cost they give you is for round-trip, so they will also pick up you up as well after your done at DC. We used Mears transportation most of the time when we went outside the resort (DC, SW, Universal) and they were fantastic! They picked us up at our hotel on time - they were very reliable and efficient!

About how much does Mears charge for round trip? We are staying at Pop in September and are booking DC too.

I'll see if I can go back to my records and find out how much we paid for the Mears Transportation. I remember them being pretty reasonable, I just can't remember right now how much it cost us exactly. I'll look through my stuff tonight and will let you know

Round trip is $16 They will pick you up at your hotel and pick you up from Discovery Cove when you're done.
