Are water shoes allowed /recommended for the various slides etc... at Discovery Cove and Aquatica?

Thanks, Luke

I can't comment on DC but at Aquatica, yes. In fact you will need some type to shoe to get from one place to another once the pavement heats up. It will be too hot to walk on with bare feet.

They are allowed at DC. DH actually bought some there. He NEVER walks around barefoot and really felt the need to have something on his feet as he was quite uncomfortable. I think DD wore some as well. The boys and I did not feel the need for them although there was one point where I scraped my foot in the lazy river which I wouldn't have done if I'd had shoes on. I would def. bring them for the water park.

When I go to aquatica I always wear my $1 flip flops and just leave them somewhere near the exit of the water slides. They've never gone missing, lol. Water shoes would probably be a better idea, though.

My husband and I did both DC and Aquatica last week and we both had water shoes. I recommend them for both parks. At DC the grand reef has some area's you could easily stub your toes.
At aquatica the rapid river was especially an area that I was glad I had them on because you do go pretty fast and I could see how someone could very easily stub or scrape up their feet without them. We were at Aquatica in the early evening so the pavement wasn't that hot but I'm sure it gets really hot during the daytime. Plus it's just nice to have some padding for your feet in general at both parks because you do a lot of walking back and forth between stuff.

I also recommend them for both parks. Anything will do. I splurged on some Keens for DS 15 that he used for both of these during SeaWorld camp and for other summer activities. I like his keens so much that I may get some for myself before we go to Discovery Cove March 2012. I have old ugly black water walking shoes that would certainly do the trick too that I bought about 12 years ago at a local water park for $10 (only thing they had in my size and I needed something that would keep my feet from burning.)
