Hello

Only 2 more sleeps left until we leave the UK and head to Florida!

We are booked to go to DC on Mon 17th but showers are forecast! Typical - all days leading up to it are glorious! What are Orlando showers likely to be like? I'm from the south coast of England and when we get rain, we get rain all day!! :rotfl2:

What do you recommend I do? Carry on and hope the weather changes? Attempt to reschedule?

I had hoped for a lovely day chilling out and relaxing in the sun and now I'm slightly panicked that it won't be as I had hoped!

Thanks

Michelle

Showers this time of year are usually accompanied with the passing of a cold front. So the showers usually last as long as it takes the cold front to move through. Sometimes when they say there is a chance of rain, it could mean the rain will be between a short period of time during the day. For example, from 8am to noon or from 7pm to midnight on any particular day. It just depends when the cold front makes it's way through.

In your case, the weather channel says that there is a 60% chance of showers in the AM until mid day. So you will likely get a rainy morning. But I would be willing to bet even without rain later in the day, you will have overcast skies all day long.

Its up to you whether you want to re schedule, but if you do, make sure that you do it before Monday because when that cold front comes through, the high on Tuesday is only 65 and it probably won't warm back up to the 80s until Friday. But Florida weather is so unpredictable so the forecast will probably change 100 times from now until then. Just keep an eye on it.

Edit: I clicked submit on the post and the forecast changed from a 60% chance of rain to 70% chance of light rain in the morning. So like I said, keep an eye on it. It will constantly be changing.

Last time we went to DC it rained all day. It didn't really 'spoil' the day as we were in the water all the time anyway and when not in the water there was plenty of shelter but it was a warm day and I think that makes all the difference.

I would suggest that if you have time in your schedule to do DC on a different day that you postpone. It would be nicer to have some blue skies and sunshine on a DC day.

We were lucky that the sun shone for around 45 minutes when our group did the dolphin encounter so were lucky.

Have a great trip

Unfortunately there have been some major cold fronts coming through Florida. The forecasts are only semi accurate for about 3 days. Seemed they change by the hour. I really wanted to change my day to Tuesday but DC is closed for maintenance mid week. We got lucky and the rain held off til Saturday night. It was a little chilly but the wet suits work and were very comfortable for out Dolphin Swim & swimming in the Reef. The other water is heated. Hope the weather will be nice for you on Monday. Feed the Birds and be sure to go see the Anteater. He is so cool! You can pet and feed him too.
