Discover Disney/3 Day Play for 2016?

Unfortunately for every family that decides not to go without the Discover Disney tickets, there is another family who sees the cost for 4 days and realizes that Silver Pass is a good value. They lose your $200 but they get $400 from the next guy.

My SIL gave her kids a February WDW trip for Christmas. She was banking on getting the Discover Disney Passes. Now that it looks like they aren't happening, she has opted for Silver passes with the monthly payments.

That's definitely true. And for every family that decides that the silver pass is too much, there is another family who will gladly pay full price for 4 tickets. Which is why level 5 days turn into level 9 and 10 days with much more consistency. When those latter families fall off, Disney will come back to the Discover families....maybe

Guess they won't be offering it this year. Just got an email about FL resident tickets.

Huge disappointment. We were bringing a newbie on our feb trip, and held off on getting tickets because we were hoping to get the Discover ticket for her.

So, this is a response to all. I have been using the Wild for Disney for the last 10 years and have noticed that its never really announced until late Jan/early Feb. In saying so, I still wanted to be completely sure, so I called Disney and the customer service rep told me it wasn't yet announced and they really don't know for sure if the promotion will or won't be applied in 2016. I have faith that Disney, "The Happiest Place on Earth", won't disappoint their Florida people! :)

Sorry to be a killjoy, but last year the tickets were announced on January 3rd the year before that it was January 5th

Someone mentioned much cheaper pricing several years ago. I remember visiting in January 2009, and there was hardly anyone there. Keep in mind that it was the depth of the recession at that point, so we can't expect recession-reduced pricing and crowd levels to persist for years on end.

I live out of state and have to fly in to visit Disney. Even that 3-night 2009 trip for my 5-year-old and I cost over $2,000. When some Florida residents complain bitterly about price increases on their bargain-basement cost passes, it's hard to comprehend from an out-of-state perspective. Florida residents get by far the cheapest tickets & other discounts, plus they don't have to fly in and some don't even require lodging or ground transportation expenses to visit WDW. And then for them to complain it's unaffordable is astonishing.

Why are Floridians more entitled to a Disney vacation than anyone else? I have to budget & save for every trip we make, & Disney World keeps getting more crowded. A sizable percentage of the crowds are Floridians who have discounted annual passes, so raising pass prices & putting blockout dates on those discounted passes makes sense to reduce crowding.

After the thousands of dollars that out-of-state families have to pay just to get to WDW, it's disheartening for massive crowds to prevent enjoyment of the trip, & we don't have the option of just going home & coming back another day. I think pass prices should be the same no matter where you live. Florida residents would still save money in many ways by living closest to the parks.

It also makes sense for Disney to try and fill their 100,000 capacity park, everyday. As you mention, there are many hurdles to visiting WDW when you live out of state. So why not entice those who live next door to visit more than once a year? There's also a section of central Floridian's who feel as those WDW ruined that area, by filling it with low wage jobs (same argument some communities have against WalMart). The least they could do is give a discount...... (not meaning to start a conversation on this part of the topic, just bringing it into the equation)

Florida residents are likely to visit more often than out of staters so it's nice to get a discount when you're booking more than one trip a year.

But Disney World is now super-crowded almost all year. There are no real low seasons anymore, so there is no need to bring more locals in with deals. The parks would be more enjoyable and just as profitable without a lot of Florida residents so frequently visiting using extremely discounted passes, and often not staying on-site. WDW makes relatively little money from discounted locals visiting frequently; all those frequent visits do for the parks is make them too crowded and harder to enjoy.

There are low-paying jobs and Walmarts all over America (including my home state of Texas), so that's no reason why Floridians somehow deserve a better deal than anyone else. You currently get great discounts available to no one else on both WDW and the cruise line, so it seems silly for Florida residents to complain about the deep discounts that only they get.

As I mentioned before (see my earlier post), they have already removed lots of money saving options for FL residents in recent years and made the options that are still there more restrictive. FL residents don't want to lose what is/was still there. Just because you're a FL resident doesn't mean you're there frequently, that's only if you have an annual pass.

I'm sure Disney has access to their own numbers to find out what deals are worthwhile for them......

Not really wanting to debate the economics of Central Florida, but come on, I'm sure you realize that WDW is a little bigger than a Walmart......

Edit to add: Of course I do realize that the parks are more crowded, and naturally, WDW does not have to turn to FL residents to help fill the parks.......But it is ok for one to not be exactly thrilled to pay more for any product than they have in the past...

oh well.. I've been avoiding getting a Florida Resident Seasonal Pass, now Silver pass. A four day trip early in the year using the Discover Disney passes satisfied our WDW cravings. Guess it's time to move up the big leagues.

I can't believe they are not offering the Discover Disney this year. I agree that it's ridiculous. They've changed the annual/seasonal pass options and of course raised the prices and now the FL Res "Discount" tickets are higher with more black out dates. How is that better or a good deal? I emailed also to express my aggravation. Maybe if enough people do complain .... who knows. :(
