Discover Card Rewards Gift Cards???

Has anyone ever used their Discover rewards to get gift cards?

If so, how long do they take to arrive? Is there anything to indicate that they are from discover rewards points? Do you need your discover card to use them at all?

I was wondering because I usually have my rewards credited back to my account. But I noticed that you get a bit more if you get a gift card. In many cases you can get a $25.00 gift card for $20.00 in reward points.

I was wondering if I should save my rewards for another statement or 2 & order a $50.00 Olive Garden gift card for my grandparents for Christmas for $45.00 in discover rewards points. This would basically give me 1 FREE Christmas gift!

I just wonder how early I would have to order to do this....And I certainly would not want to give it as a gift if there was some indication on the card that it was a reward redemption.....

I use this all the time for Shutterfly cards, since I get an extra $10 on top of my rewards. You will be sent a gift card just like you would get if you ordered it from Shutterfly, or like you'd get if you went to a store, nothing on it says Discover, you don't need your discover card to use it. These are so wonderful!! It is very fast shipping, I'm not sure exactly how long, but I get mine within a week of ordering it. Some things you can get instantly, which is really nice!

I agree with the PP. I have gotten gift cards through Discover Rewards and they come in about a week. They are regular gift cards. I have gotten Lands End, Gap and some restaurant cards from them and never had a problem.

Same thing here. The gift cards from Discover are a great deal. They come pretty fast too. They look like regular gift cards, and aren't marked in any way that the recipient would know that you didn't pay for them. We order ours every couple months--as far as I'm concerned... It's a free dinner

Yes, I've ordered Kohl's and Lowe's gift cards because I earned ten dollars on top of my amount of rewards. Good deal. The cards come in about a week.

Do be careful when choosing though if planning on giving as a gift. Some of the gift cards actually come as an e-certificate to a special section of your account and when you print it out it says on there that it's your discover card reward. And some of the rewards are only good online. I know the Mrs. Fields certificate is this way. I used it to have the cookies shipped to them instead.

i've ordered borders, red lobster/olive garden, chili's/macaroni grille...,black angus/stuart andersen, and received regular gift cards.

i ordered staples and recieved a paper coupon with limits.

so i would fill safe recommending the first bunch but not the staples or it sounds like the mrs. fields.
