We are new to cruising, tried a basic Carnival cruise first to be sure we were not going to have issues being on the water and loved it. Disney is our preference for another cruise but not experienced at all yet. Does Disney ever offer
discounts for last minute cruises and how much might one increase in cost over a year if we do not book that far out and wait until a couple months in advance? I am not asking for numbers, just about experiences, I am fully aware
of all the variables. I just want to hear from experienced cruisers for whom money is an object what sort of deals they have encountered.

While there are discounts for specific groups at times (Florida residents, military for example), DCL doesn't really do discounts like other cruise lines.

Once bookings open on any given cruise, as the space fills onboard, the prices go up.

If a cruise isn't filling up at the speed DCL wants, they may offer last minute discount rates. These do have restrictions and are generally offered after the paid in full date. Most of the time the last minute "discount" rate is higher than the price was for the cruise on opening day, but not always.

There are some discounts for Disney+ subscribers. I got one for our Feb cruise, it's 3rd and 4th passenger in the cabin free with the first two full-fare cruisers. There are also restricted categories sometimes available, that offer a discount but you have to pay your full fare in advance, no refunds, and you can't pick your stateroom just the category (inside, oceanview, verandah, etc).

Restricted rate GT staterooms become available in the months before cruising for some cruises. It can be up to a 35% discount.
