Discounts vs. Renting points

I have been worried so much about discounts and codes. Finally I decided to check out the DVC point renting thing. I am going to stay at OKW for less than I would for the same time at a Value Resort. Tell me if I am wrong. The only downsides I see are trusting the owner of the points, and not having daily housekeeping. What are your thoughts?

Pretty-much. There's no question that it is a win-win for everyone (except Disney) when the deals go well, as all mine have. There are risks, though, on both sides, renter and member.

We rented points for OKW in May. Like you, we paid less than we would have for a value. It was great, I really didn't miss not having housekeeping. I always feel like I'm straighteneing up for the maid anyway. LOL

We're renting points again in November for BWV. Hopefully it will go off without a hitch.

I've been considering the same thing. I helped my sister rent points for a couple of days during spring break and she got the Boardwalk for $140 a night. I'm concerned about the sleeper sofas in the DVC resorts, I've heard they are pretty uncomfortable and renting a studio is the only way to keep this cost effective for my family. I'm curious to see what others have to say about this topic!!
