Discounts visiting Disney World with local?

We are just starting to plan a visit to Disney World which will happen in a few weeks. My sister in-law lives in Tampa and will be going with us. I know she can get discounted tickets but just for her. Are there other local discounts we can take advantage of? I beleive there are special hotel rates for Florida residents, can we take advantage of them if she books the trip? Any hotel suggestions that have a Florida discount?

As far as I know, if there are any FL resident special offers going on (like room discounts), she has to stay in the room. She cannot book it for someone else. They really mean for those discounts to be what they are - for Florida residents spending money at Disney, not out-of-staters.

She could purchase the Tables in Wonderland card for dining discounts as a Florida resident, and if you all eat together, you could get that discount on your meals.

If she is staying in the room with you, she can get a FL resident discount (if one is offered at that time).

Last year, MIL joined us for a few days (in her own room). I was able to book her room over the phone with a FL resident discount and pay for it (I am not a FL resident), but she had to show her ID when she checked in or pay the rack-rate difference.


The only problem with the FL resident discount codes for Disney resorts is that they often don't come out until shortly before the trip. I originally booked MIL's room with a AAA discount, then a spring code, and finally the FL resident discount when that came out. You will have no way of knowing in advance if they will offer a resident discount during your stay.

Thanks. My SIL is staying with us so we should be elidgible. I found a link on the DisneyWorld site for Florida residents. I am now trying to see if there are any discounts at offsite properies as well.
