I'm curious. What would most of you guys rather do? Would you rather take your time and enjoy the fun of finding that really great rate for a stay at one of the disney resorts via codes or passholder rates? Or would you prefer to be a member of the DVC and book through that program?

For me I really like the hunt. It's more fun to me sometimes to plan that it is to actually get there. I've debated buying DVC many many times. But I think for me I'd rather save the initial outlaw of cash and just hunt for great discount rates. Especially since I rarely plan more than a month and a half in advance.

Not sure I'm understanding the question correctly so I apologize if I don't answer your question.

DVC is not really about planning. It's advantage is if you know you will be returning to the world regularly (at least once every other year) and you usually stay at Deluxe resorts. We purchased into DVC because we go to Disney every 15 months (more like every 12 months), we always stay deluxe and we generally stay 10-12 nights when we go. Even with codes (which are not guarenteed (sp)) we calculated that after the 6th visit we will have spent the same amount as what our dvc cost.

Your absolutely right, DVC would not be a good match for you especially if your not the type to plan ahead?

We love it, ironically now more than when our children were smaller. Now we go multiple times a year, we plan getaways as a couple, this August my college roommates are joining me in a "girls only" trip and still do the family vacation with the kids. I wish I could afford to buy into the villas at AK.
