As a DVC member, do I get any discounts when I book a cash room? If so, is it at any resort or only DVC resorts?

You are elligible for a 20% discount on DVC rooms...but...only a certain number of cash-ressie rooms are alloted for the discount. So, there could be a chance that the discount is not available for the cash night you are looking to book.

If available, the member cash discount for DVC resorts is 25%.

There are cash discounts for non-DVC resrots.

There IS a cash discount for non DVC resorts???

Not a DVC discount for non-DVC resorts,

however there are often discounts for a non-DVC resorts when booking through CRO; off top of my head some possibilities that might be available :

a discount code available to general public for a reduced rate or

package discount ( ie buy 4/3 free promo currently offered - you'd have to determine true discount with something like this because nights you pay are usually at full rack rate ) or

if you have an Annual Pass a discounted AP room rate or

booking through AAA

If I book my DVC point reservation at the 11 month window and need to add an extra night with cash, the odds should be pretty good that I would get it with a discount, right?

Not necessarily. They usually do not release discounted rooms right away.

OOPS! Forgot the NOT in that answer, the very important NOT. :teeth:

Thanks for catching my error. :)

Another question related to this; If part of my stay is with points and part of my stay is cash, would I have to change rooms?

Depends. If you book those cash nights through MS, they treat it as one reservation. Unless you are in a room category on points that is only bookable on points, like the BW view at BWV. Then you would have to move for sure.

If you book through CRO for the cash nights, you will have to check out and check back in again. You might be able to be blocked into the same room (again if bookable for cash), but you have to give MS the reservation for the cash room and CRO the reservation number for the points stay. And you may still have to move. It just depends.
