Discounts/free dining in October?

I wasn't sure where to post this, so I'll try here first. I haven't been to the World since 2008 and haven't been on the boards here in a couple years so please be gentle if I'm asking questions that are common knowledge around here!

We are considering WDW for our honeymoon in October.

Are there usually any resort discounts or free dining offered 2nd-3rd week of October?

And the big question, if I book a resort stay now and a discount/free dining is announced later, will I be able to get in on it?

Lastly, I've seen discussions on discount codes from Disney. How do you get one; just totally random? Thanks all.

The second the third week of October are generally blacked out for FD and RO discounts. The predicted FD and RO discount will probably be October 1-2 and October 18-31.

You can always call later and add a discount code to an existing reservation. Of course it's always best to have a back up resort and/or room category invade your first choice is not available under a particular discount code.

Email pin codes are sent out randomly and are name specific and non-transferrable.
