We are looking at maybe going with friends in the end of September, when are any special offers announced for this time?

I really want to go but just for airfare, hotel and park passes we are looking at over $4000, and thats with DS doing the YES program. Its cheaper to go to WDW but I don't want to go there right now!

I was hoping something soon would come up so I could maybe swing it!

Don't we all wish. Usually mid April into May if they offer them this year, but with Carsland I am not really expecting much. Good luck.

I wish....in fact with Carsland opening in June, I predict a small bump upward in ticket and AP's sometime in April/May - just before the new park opens.

Have you been to DLR before? I'm sure it can be cheaper than WDW if you took out the airfare component. This is because offsite lodging can be very cheap.

What are the exact dates you are going, and how many people are in your party?

Actually we have always found going to WDW is better priced as the flights are about the same and they seem to have better offers. We have been to both but I would prefer this time to go to DLR as that is where friends of ours are going at the same time. We have not seen them in a long time.

Flight from Canada are just crazy! I figured the Carsland would probably hamper any good discounts, which is fine for me, if we can do it we will. I will just keep watching.

Dates at this point are flexible, but looking at the end of sept into the first week of Oct. I have found good hotel prices and checked the YES program (there is one running the 29th which is also DS Bday!). I was just looking for a little better price to offset the cost of flights which is sitting at $2800 for the 5 of us :scared1:... No a big deal was just hoping!

Thanks for all of your responses and help!

On the island we find it's cheaper to get across the border and fly, but for this trip (also September!) we're driving.

For late September deals don't normally come out until early August. Definitely look at staying offsite. Many hotels are just as close if not closer than the Disney ones.

I would love to drive one year! sadly we are about 8hrs from the border, and 3 little ones make it hard to drive, but I did check flights, they are about 1/2 the price out of Great Falls, like I said who knows, one day we might just say oh well and book it! :rotfl:

Greetings,

We have done the trip from Vancouver Island and Vancouver and what we find is that we get the Entertainment Rate @ Hojo and for flights we can find WEstjet flights for around $300 return through YVR to LAX...we get shuttle service to/from hotel and if we are spending any kind of time in California we often take city bus or there are car rental agencies nearby and we use the Entertainment book to get some really good deals.:thumbsup2

All in for 4 of us last time (DEcember 2010) and 2 weeks @ DLR and staying with Hojo we spent $350 each for flights (with "reserved seats" so we could sit close together) plus shuttles $30 each to/from airport, $60/night for hojo...plus we signed up for denny's club and we got coupons for 20% off and we just printed out a whole bunch of copies.

I think total we spent something like $3500...with food every day and souvenirs for family/friends (and a couple for us )

We also purchased and had shipped direct to our hotel room an umbrella stroller plus diapers etc for our then 2 1/2 yr old DD.

I hope this helps with your travel plans!

Have a magical trip:cheer2:

We drive all the way to Anaheim for Edmonton. I highly recommend it. We started when our kids were 4 and 5. It is a really a nice drive.

That is cool! We might consider that!

We do it 2 or 3 times a year now. The kids are 8 and 9.

I don't like to fly, so we usually drive. But last Christmas we checked flight prices...it was crazy! It cost about $2200 for the four of us.

When we drive it is about $500. We always stay in Idaho for the night, and we end up in DL by about 3 pm the next day.

I would also rather drive, so that I can shop more.

It is honestly a beautiful drive too.

This is something we are considering for the future maybe in the next few years, if we don't have a gas guzzling truck! (like we do now!) We are possibly looking at doing a trip down but taking about 3 or so days, to site see on the way, stay for 5 days at Disney do San Deigo and then back.

What time of year do you do this? I know my sister has gone during August and her car did not handle the heat well, but I am thinking a early spring trip would be nice.

We have drove to Anaheim prior to our DD being born and "really nice drive" didn't quite come to mind. We thought it was long...it was. We stopped and slept in Mountain pass on way down...kinda cool. I don't think it would be as easy driving with little ones. Our DD is now 4 yrs old and we have driven to SF and Seattle with her...it took an extra day added on to what google maps suggested due to bathroom stops etc. Plus, her bottom gets sore :scared:

Maybe if we get a bigger car it would be easier...we have a Subaru station wagon right now.
