We want to go to WDW again, but am I going to have to pay (insert choke and gasp) rack rate? I've never ever paid full RR for a hotel in my life, let alone a WDW hotel. What the heck is going on? I'm hearing some things about discounted packages, where are those?
Thanks,
Gretchen
Looking at WDW 3rd week in Jan 04

I am also looking for discounted room only rates for Jan. 2004 and can't seem to find any other than a AAA discount. Although it is better than rack rate, it still is a good bit higher than what we paid last year with a Newspaper discount code. If you are not currently a member, AAA sometimes provides introductory memberships for around $36. We join this past summer for this much.
I called Disney yesterday to inquire about rates and availablily and was suprised to find many resorts already booked up. We booked in mid December last year for early January and had no trouble booking a room at the WL with the discount code!

I plan to keep an eye on mousesavers.com for info on a discount code. I just saved 15% on Southwest tickets with a discount code they published on their website!

Good Luck!

What rate were you quoted if you don't mind?
I too have AAA, didn't see a code on SW web site tho.
Thanks,
Gretchen

There are AAA room only rates out. We have a savanna view room at the AKL booked for Jan 23rd through the 29th for $260 a night inc tax.

AP rates did not come out for the first value season of 2003 until Oct 27th or 28th of 2002 so I am waiting to the end of October to see what the AP situation is going to be.

This past Feb 1st through the 6th we were able to get AKL Concierge for $277 a night inc all taxes. This is a great rate considering rack rate is $425 a night plus tax.

Already getting crowded for the beginning of January????? Uh-oh. I always go during the off-season so I am spoiled with low crowds. We are arriving on the 2nd and have been anticipating very low crowds by the 4th. Perhaps I should prepare for larger crowds

I would love to know the southwest code as well as I have been waiting for this...

Just wondering about that Southwest code... I couldn't find it anywhere on the website... could you post it?

Due to recent changes is plans I had to change my Winter Dream Maker package so now I am looking for a code. I need those AP or room only codes.

Sorry guys but I believe the Southwest code has expired. I will post it anyway and you can try. It is RR8HMX4R8H. I believe it expired on 9/25 and I purchased my tickets online on 9/24 for a 15% discount. However, I just checked Southwest flights from Bham and saw that some fun fares had opened up that weren't previously available. It never hurts to keep checking back. I stumbled upon the discount code on Mousesavers under the "Getting There" link. I believe it was given to mousesavers by a Rapid Rewards member.

In regards to Disney being crowded the beginning of Jan....Maybe it was booked up on the 1st when we are arriving and that is the reason we didn't have a lot to pick from. WL had no rooms. It may open up after that.

Here are some AAA rates I was quoted for 5 nights...

BC/YC/BWI $1370 (274 nt with taxes)standard room
$2014 concierge
$2227 concierge with water view

AKL $948 standard
$1351 club Deluxe pool view

Ploy $1417 standard

I guess the AAA discount is better than nothing but it doesn't seem to compare to the discount code rates!

Thanks for the replies! Just got off the phone w/CRO:

For 6 nights AAA discount MLK week in Jan:
WL $1132.00 - 188.60 per night standard with taxes.
this compares to 199.00 per night no taxes no discount standard.

Moderates: POR, CS and CBR: $133.00 per night standard no taxes, $118.67 per night with taxes and AAA discount.

Didn't check any other resorts. Daughter likes the bunk beds and Husband likes a hotel with a lobby, looks like WL. Last Dec. I paid around 144 per night incl. taxes woods view, with a code. Man I do miss those codes!

Southwest fare from Hartford to Orlando nonstop: 176.50 incl. fee/tax. Was a promo fare, she said lowest they have now. Non refundable.

Question:
I've never booked a room/pass package before, they seem so much more than room only. Here's what I was quoted, Visa kids free, WL, standard with passes: 2025.85. Now if I do room only, and pay for my passes (5 day hoppers) it's 1777.00. I know the UHP, includes everything from check in and out, but we don't need all that. Is it really that much more? Or am I missing something?
Thanks!
Gretchen

Gretchen,

That package deal is not a great deal unless you are able to use the parks EVERY single day. We too, bought our hoppers seperate.

With our flight getting in late afternoon and leaving mid morning there are two days at approx $50/person x 3 that are lost! Like throwing money out the window. Not to mention, we would like a day or two to not have to be at a park....lounge around, swim or go to DTD, etc. This also allows us a rain day/cold day away, which with two small kids imho is miserable.

It IS really that much more and not worth it to me. I would feel pressured to go to the park even on the flight days to get my monies worth.

I am holding out for lower room rates/ Fl resident rates for 2004. Even though I am not a resident anymore :(, I may be able to bribe someone to help me out.

Lewski,
Thanks, I thought I was missing something...
Well, we were going to do WL this trip, but now it looks like off site this time. I just can't bring myself to pay 188.00 for a hotel room. The Lodge is a great hotel, but we have 2 kids, one in a porta crib, and the rooms are just too small to be paying that kind of money. We're going for a suite off site. 89.00 for 2 rooms, everyone gets breakfast free vs. 188.00 one cramped room. Hmmm.... I'm going to be cheap this time!
Gonna miss the Disney Magic of the Resort, but make up for it buying stuff!!
Good luck with the bribe!
Gretchen
