Is there a place to purchase discounted pal mickey's?

They are for sale on e-bay. So that kind of tells me there must be a place these "dealers" get them at a discounted price to sell on e-bay!

One gal I know that is selling her pal mickey, used it for a day, and brought it home and is selling it as new, in the box.
If I decide to sell mine (used for one day), I would own up to it being used! I believe you can only get these at Disney, so that may be why they get so much for them.

I guess there is always someone out there on Ebay willing to pay $$$ without researching what it actually costs... I'm just glad I have these boards to keep me from being one of them! ;)

But keep in mind, that some people want it to just have it and can't get to the parks to buy one...or someone may want it in advance. This is hte budget board..people here want it the cheapest LOL

I think from what i've read dvc owners were given a cert. for either a pal mickey free or discounted. Maybe these are the ones they are seller. I've been watching the auctions because i wanted to buy one for christmas and they have been selling them for around the price of the parks with shipping included not much more. Some say slightly used and some say new. I hoping as more people buy them we will see them even cheaper. Does anyone know if they can be washed. How do they clean them after each rental? Anyone know.

I can't imagine they stay very clean if very loved. It says to wipe with a damp cloth, not machine washable.

I don't think I'll be renting a Pal Mickey...not after reading this! Eewww Yuck! (I fear this may be the way they "sanitize" them at the parks.) I think I'll be buying a new one if I get one at all!

Me too!

I did buy mine off Ebay. It was brand new in the box and with shipping it did cost me the full $50. However, now that they are $60 in the parks and we're not going until Nov, I feel very good about it. My boys have already had fun playing with him at home. One less thing I have to buy down there.

Has anyone seen adults at WDW carrying around a Pal Mickey?

Haven't seen it but a couple just back from thier Disney Honeymoon has one which they said works in all the parks. My guess is they carried it around and used it while there. She said DVC members got a one day free rental. Don't know how long that will go on - we go in less that 2 weeks so will see if the voucher is in the welcome home package.

I purchased a Pal Mickey for my daughter in August, when it was still $50, and I can't really say I would consider it a waste of money. My daughter enjoyed it, and we saw several people carrying them around...adults, children, and adult "Mickeysitters"(the parents who obviously rented/purchased for their child, but found Mickey needing to be carried for fear of losing their investment). I was occassionally the Mickeysitter, as a cm warned me they often "disappeared". My good friend is taking my favorite 2-year-old to Disney in a few days, and she has decided to purchase a Pal Mickey(I'l have to tell her the price went up), because her daughter fell in love with mine. I really was not interested in renting one, and she isn't either(can you imagine the scene trying to pry Mickey from the tired hands of a toddler?). My opinion is: While I have spent $50 before and gotten more, I have spent $50 before and gotten less for my money. At least with Pal Mickey, he told us silly jokes all the way home(something that t-shirt didn't do!) That $10 increase in price may be more than some parents are willing to pay, though(I would have had to think twice!).

DW and I were there in Sept, and we saw more adults than kids carrying Pal Mickey.

We saw these two ladies at Fantasmic, whose Pal Mickeys were wearing hats, clothes, shoes, pins, jewelry, and strapped to the side of each was a miniature Pal Mickey. Their Pals had pals of their own!

They really seem to be growing in popularity.

A CM approached me while I was holding our Pal Mickey and showed me a 'prototype' lanyard sized for my little Pal. So cute! I hear other clothes and accessories are being considered.

I love this!

I carried our PM around the whole time! I had him plastered to my ear! LOL! When he would wiggle I'd out him to my ear to hear him. Then I passed him to my mom and DD so they could hear him. Once he says something you can squeeze his hand and he repeats the same thing. It's nice because then everyone can hear it. We are taking PM back on our next trip too.::MickeyMo

When we were at WDW in August I overheard another group say their PM was free with a certificate, and I wondered at that time how they got one for free.
But I believe they were DVC members, so that may be the explanation.
we saw quite a few PM, and from what we overheard it seemed to be a 50/50 split on whether it was worth the $.
The party with the free PM did say they were glad they had not paid for it, as they didn't think it worth $50.
From what I saw, unless it is VERY quiet, others had to have PM up against their ear and even then listen carefully, depending on the background noise.

We rented one to see if we liked it, he was very clean and said it was santizied.......after renting if you want to buy it, you get a new one in the box. So even though we used Pal for 9 days our NEW pal is brand new and was only used for 1 day. He is a little hard to hear at times and mostly adults had him! I carried our Pal on my waist pack because I was afraid DD would lay him down and forget him.

We just got back and saw lots and lots of adults carrying Pal Mickeys. A lot of people had them clipped to water bottle straps. DVC members got a certificate for one free day but it had to be used by 9/30. We had the certificate but forgot to use it.

We used our DVC certificate, after having so much fun with PM we ended up buying him. When we brought him back they gave us a new one and discounted the 50 purchase price less the certificate amt.

We didn't have any problems carrying him around, I had him clipped to my backpack, or my DD10's waistband.

Everyone in our group had a great time using him, and we will be bringing him back for our next trip.
