I don't think I've ever seen this question asked here before.

I want to put together little nail polish kits for Mother's Day since I know every mom on my list paints her toenails in the spring and summer. I have to make six of them, so I don't want to spend more than $10 each (less would be better). But nail polish is pretty expensive now. Where can I get inexpensive (but still nice) nail polish? Any ideas?

I use NYC and Perfect 10 brands from Walmart. I think they are around $2 each. I haven't bought any since last summer, but I rarely spend more on polish. Also, Claire's usually has good polish deals - I just don't know if they've started them, yet.

At our Walmart stores you can usually find two packs of the "cute" nail files near the registers, ours were marked down to a dollar last month (I got one to do a nail kit for one of DD's friends.)

Do they still make the travel sized nailpolish removers? Those would be a good addition, as well. If you got 2 polishes, split apart the pack of nail files (if you can find them for $1), and added a $.99 remover you could do a kit for about $6. Even if you added a travel lotion you'd be under $10. Cute idea, BTW.

If you have a Sally Beauty they have small bottles of polish with a lot of great colors for $1 each, you can add a couple of nice but inexpensive nail files and maybe some nail decals (I always have cute stickers on my nicely polished toes) as well.

I see Sally Hansen Nail Polish at Target's website for $2.04. Free shipping for orders over $50, so that seems worthwhile. The remover is $1.94. Two packs of nail files=$2.79. So for about $10.00 each, I think I can get a remover, nail file and three bottles of polish. Not bad!

Thank you. I'm not ordering until tomorrow morning so let me know if you find any better deals online.

RATS. I spoke too soon. All of those $2 Nail polishes at Target say
"Ships in two to four weeks." No good.

Wow, thank you Fakeredhead. I was looking at Walgreens and they had good prices, too, but I got more for my money at Ulta!

They have been running the Wet N Wild brand nailpolishes, lipsticks, and eye pencils for 69 cents at our Walgreens, just the basic ones that are usually 1.00.
Also,Dollar Tree carries cute files, clippers, nail stickers, clear wrap and baskets.

If you have an Ulta near you, I'd check that out.

Their polishes are GOOD quality, not cheap-o that will peel right off. Last week they were 2/$4. If you join their rewards program (free, just a swipe card and they e-mail coupons) you'll get $3.50 off of $10. They also had fingernail clippers + nail file in a cute little packet for $1. They usually have a decent clearance section as well, with OPI around $3.50 each. :thumbsup2
